Telephone Work Center Opens
Bell Atlantic Corp. celebrated the grand opening of its new, $3 million Ammendale work center in Beltsville on Friday.
The 8,200-square-foot facility on 2.7 acres will house 100 construction, clerical and managerial employees.
Aetna U.S. Healthcare broke ground Monday for its new regional headquarters in the Inglewood Business Community in Largo. The $24 million, 182,000-square-foot building will NOTEShouse 1,100 employees.
The headquarters, which is to be completed in April, will be the largest commercial office building project in Prince George's County in 12 years, according to Jeffrey D. Ludwig, vice president of the Michael Cos. Inc., in Lanham, which brokered the deal for Aetna.
Aetna, with 21 million members, is one of the nation's largest health insurance companies. It is moving and consolidating its offices in Greenbelt to the regional headquarters.
WalkAmerica Planning Begins
The March of Dimes WalkAmerica 2000 planning committee will meet from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the office of DST (Data Solutions & Technology) Inc., 9200 Basil Ct., Suite 209, Largo, across from the Largo Government Center.
