Town Meeting on Y2K Glitch

The potential impact of the so-called Y2K computer glitch on Montgomery County will be discussed at a town meeting Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Executive Office Building, 101 Monroe St. in Rockville.

County officials and representatives from utility companies will outline preparations for potential Y2K problems. The presentations also will include suggestions for homeowners and businesses for Y2K preparedness and a question-and-answer session.

Deadline for Party Change

Registered voters wishing to change their party affiliation before the 2000 primary election March 7 may do so until Monday. A written request including the voter's full name, address, date of birth, new party affiliation and signature must be received by the elections office--whether by mail or hand-delivered--by 9 p.m.

Requests may be hand-delivered to the elections office, 751 Twinbrook Pkwy. in Rockville, or mailed to the Montgomery County Board of Elections, P.O. Box 4333, Rockville, Md. 20849-4333. Requests with a Dec. 13 postmark will be honored. For more information, call 240-777-8500.
