District Police arrested a Southeast Washington man last night and charged him with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a District teenager in October.
Damien Yates, 19, of the 1600 block of R Street SE, was charged in the death of Louis Queen, 18, who was shot and killed at 18th and Q streets SE on Oct. 30. Information about a motive was unavailable last night.
Queen was one of four teenagers killed in a one-month period in the 6th Police District, which includes parts of Northeast and Southeast. Police said Queen's death was not connected to the other killings.
Last week, two suspects were arrested and charged in the fatal Halloween shootings of a pair of teenagers in what police think was a trivial dispute that turned deadly. Gregory Williams, 21, of the 1400 block of Howard Road SE, was charged with murder in the slayings of Doniell Smith, 14, and Rowland Ford, 15. A 17-year-old Northeast youth was charged with murder as a juvenile.
No arrest has been made in the fourth homicide. Beverly Renee Fletcher, 17, a Dunbar High School student, was fatally shot in the 4500 block of Quarles Street NE on Nov. 16.
