Repeat All-Extra selection. Placed fifth at District IV tournament and seventh at SMAC tournament. Shot 162 at state tournament, second-best score among SMAC golfers. Stroke average: 40.1.

Chris Harpley



Won Calvert County tournament. Regular season scoring average: 39. Has had the lowest scoring average for the Panthers in each of the past two years.

Shawn Krahling


Thomas Stone

Shot 84 at District IV tournament, missing cut for states by a stroke. Tied for second in Charles County tournament. Stroke average: 40.5.

Brad Lackman



Placed second in District IV tournament, tied for second in Charles County tournament and was third in SMAC tournament. Shot 171 at state tournament. Regular season: 8-3 record, 40 stroke average.

Golfer of the Year

Richie Bamber

Senior, St. Mary's Ryken

Shot 74 to win SMAC title at Swan Point Golf Course in October. Had a 38.6 stroke average this season. He was also the medalist at the St. Mary's County tournament in October.

Coach of the Year

Karl Brungot


Coach of the fourth-year program led the Panthers to a 20-4 this season, 18-4 in the SMAC. Patuxent finished second in the conference behind St. Mary's Ryken. Under Brungot, Patuxent has steadly improved, from 2-20 in 1996 to 11-10-1 in 1997 to 16-6-1 in 1998.
