NATIVITY AT ST. FRANCIS

ASHTON BAPTIST NATIVITY

Ashton Baptist Church is celebrating Christmas with a dramatization of the Christmas story at 7 and 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The manger will feature live animals. An indoor holiday puppet presentation will be held at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free.

CHRISTMASTIDE ACTIVITIES

St. Nicholas Church of Darnestown is celebrating the holiday season with three special events. The Irish Noel Benefit Concert with Ceoltoiri, a female trio that performs Irish folk music, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Money raised will benefit local and international charities.

A Christmas Eve service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The church will present "Pageant of Lessons and Carols" at 5 p.m. on Dec. 26. Admission for the concert is $12 in advance for adults and $15 at the door; $8 in advance for children ages 5 to 12 and $10 at the door. Children younger than 5 get in free.

NATIVITY SCENE

The teenagers of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Potomac are presenting a live nativity scene on the church lawn at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The event is a tribute to St. Francis of Assisi, who was inspired by shepherds and arranged the first creche for poor farmers in Italy. There will be live animals, music and refreshments. CHRISTMAS CONCERT

Immanuel's Church in Silver Spring is holding a Christmas concert featuring its sanctuary choir and dancers at 7 p.m. Sunday. The program will be a combination of worship, drama and pageantry as the church celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ.

PAGEANT AND SEMINAR

The children of Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church in Bethesda are presenting the Christmas pageant "Angels, Lambs, Ladybugs and Fireflies" at 9 a.m. Sunday. A Christmas party and the adult seminar "The Images and Sounds of Advent" will begin at 10 a.m. A classical worship service will be held at 11:15 a.m. with the church's Chancel Choir and a cello/vocal duet. The day concludes with a potluck supper at 6 p.m., followed by caroling at area nursing homes.
