He threw for 23 scores, ran for 18, caught one touchdown pass and returned an interception for another score as a starting defensive back for Park View. Completed 91 of 149 passes (61 percent) for a school-record 1,703 yards and 23 touchdowns. Rushed for 1,094 yards.

Coach of the Year

Mickey Thompson

Park View

Guided one of the best teams in the history of the area's high school football to a 13-1 record. Patriots set school regular-season records in both points scored (414) and fewest points allowed (46). Thompson's record is 74-39 at the Sterling school.

Defensive Player Of the Year

"Unblockable," according to Loudoun Valley Coach Mike Barton, whose Vikings had to deal with Spring twice during 1999. Spring's coach, Pat McManus, calls the two-way tackle a "self-made" football player. Led Loudoun County with 88 tackles, including 23 for losses; broke up nine passes, caused seven fumbles and returned one fumble for a touchdown.
