Osbourn Park senior Tara Koff, who swims for the Curl-Burke Swim Club, posted two national swimming times this weekend at the four-day Junior Olympic Invitational Championships at George Mason University.

On Friday, Koff placed 12th in the 400 IM with a national qualifying time of 4:32.13. In Sunday's 200 IM, she finished sixth with a qualifying time of 2:09.09.

Koff, who will swim next year at Columbia University in New York, will compete in the 2000 Speedo Junior National Championships in March in Orlando.

Occoquan Swimming

Jeff Holway won the 13-14 boys 50-yard freestyle, and Christian Lindberg and Caitlin Brown combined to set five team records to lead Occoquan Swimming at the Junior Olympic meet.

Holway outdistanced the field in the sprint free event, swimming a personal best 23.40 seconds. He finished in the top 16 in five other events, besting his previous times by taking fifth in the 1,000 free (10:30.26), sixth in the 100 free (50.83), 11th in the 100 fly (1:00.18), 12th in the 200 free (1:52.12) and 14th in the 200 IM (2:10.99).

Lindberg, 17, surpassed team records in the senior boys 50 free (third, 21.35), 100 backstroke (ninth, 52.96) and 200 back (12th, 1:54.50). He also posted personal best times in the 100 breast (1:04.66) and the 100 free (13th, 48.00).

Posting a perfect seven personal best times, Brown, 12, broke her team marks in the 50 breast (third, 33.53) and 100 breast (fifth, 1:11.80). She also captured fifth in the 500 free (5:31.07), and posted best times in the 100 free (1:00.48), 200 IM (2:26.16), 100 IM (1:08.58) and 200 free (2:08.25).

Brett MacLennan and Josh Reed combined for 10 top 16 place finishes and 12 personal best times.

Taking on the grueling distance events, MacLennan, 14, finished fifth in the 1,650 free in 17:33.53 and was 12th in the 400 IM in 4:36.18. He also posted personal bests in the 100 breast (ninth, 1:07.69), 500 free (13th, 5:08.33) and 200 IM (15th, 2:12.59).

Reed, 12, tallied seven personal best times: in the 50 breast (eighth, 34.92), 100 back (ninth, 1:06.88), 50 back (10th, 31.46), 100 IM (13th, 1:07.72) and 100 fly (15th, 1:08.10). His other bests came in the 200 IM (2:28.11) and 100 free (1:01.76).

Matthew Drupa, 12, posted six personal best times: in the 50 fly (sixth, 28.75), 50 breast (12th, 35.80), 50 back (31.46), 100 fly (1:07.00), 50 free (26.99) and 100 IM (1:08.75).

Occoquan swimmers totaled 32 top 16 finishers, while the Wahoos relay teams notched 17 top 16 finishes.
