Thomas Stone's girls basketball team remained perfect on the season with a 63-44 victory over Potomac (Md.) in Tuesday's McDonough Rams Invitational semifinals.

Ashley Blandford (17 points) and Lynn Malone (15 points) each had season scoring highs as the Cougars (6-0) advanced to Wednesday's final. Thomas Stone was scheduled to play host McDonough, which defeated Lackey, 40-19, later Tuesday.

Jewel Clark, Thomas Stone's leading scored, had 11 points and seven assists.

Chopticon Loses Late

Regina Rice scored eight of her 17 points in the fourth quarter as Walter Johnson erased a six-point deficit and defeated Chopticon, 60-58, in the Southern Maryland Holiday Tournament semifinals.

Chopticon (3-3) was led by senior forward Jessica Ritchey, who scored 11 of her team-high 22 points in the second quarter.

Junior point guard Tia Briscoe had seven assists and junior forward Candice Rose had seven rebounds.

Devon Wilson scored a game-high 23 points for Walter Johnson (5-1).

In a boys game, Walter Johnson junior center Blaine Lay scored 12 of his team-high 20 points in the second half and had nine rebounds as the Wildcats defeated Chopticon, 53-42. Chopticon (2-4) was led by Brandon Young, who scored a team-high 19 points.

La Plata Boys Win

La Plata's boys claimed third place in the Aberdeen Holiday Invitational on Tuesday, defeating Christiana of Delaware, 59-38.

The Warriors, who had lost to Walbrook 78-49 in Monday's first round, outscored Christiana, 20-3, in the fourth quarter.

Jhonte Brawner had 13 points and forced seven turnovers for the Warriors; Mike Bahen had a team-high 16 points and 10 rebounds.

La Plata (3-4) will return to SMAC play next week.

La Plata Girls Fall

Necka Lancaster followed Monday's 17-point performance with a game-high 21 Tuesday, but the Warriors lost to Western, 63-46, in consolation play at the Holiday Hoops Invitational at Anne Arundel Community College.

La Plata (2-3) lost to Meade in Monday's first round, 62-56, and was scheduled to play Frederick in Wednesday's seventh-place game. Tycia Powell led Western with 19 points.
