Kevin McNamara scored two goals and Kevin Crocker had two assists as MYHA Black won the Montgomery Youth Hockey Association House Holiday Classic I Middle House Division title with a 3-2 victory over MYHA White Thursday afternoon at ARC IceSports in Rockville.

Andrew Fox scored one goal and Michael Flickinger had one assist for MYHA Black. Noah Goodman (15 saves) and Jacob Raim (12 saves) played well in goal.

Josh John and Jeff Radner each scored one goal for MYHA White, which took a 1-0 lead in the first period. Ben Brock made 22 saves.

"We got off to a slow start in the first period, but we came on strong in the second period," said MYHA Black Coach Dan McDermitt, whose team scored three goals in the second period. "I was a little nervous when [White] scored late in the third period, but our defense stepped up and got the job done."

MYHA Black began the tournament with a 5-4 win over MYHA White. McNamara had two goals and one assist and Goodman made 27 saves. Crocker had one goal and two assists and Fox and Eric Collich each scored one goal. Flickinger and Nick Ballen each had one assist.

Alex Dittberner scored two goals and Brock made 30 saves for MYHA White. Radner and Robert Ruscher each scored one goal and Chris Schultze, Justin Linck and Mark Cohen each had one assist.

MYHA Black improved to 2-0 with an 8-1 win over the Red Hawks. McNamara had three goals and two assists and Alex Whitnall had three assists. Crocker had two goals and one assist and Fred Bulger added one goal and one assist. Andrew Fox scored one goal, P.J. Bourke had one assist and Goodman (seven saves) and Raim (six saves) each played well in goal. Turan Tuluy scored one goal and David Fitzpatrick made 36 saves for the Red Hawks.

MYHA Black advanced to the finals with a 7-4 win over the Bolts. Whitnall scored three goals and Crocker and McNamara each had one goal and three assists. Bourke had one goal and one assist and Raim (10 saves) and Goodman (three saves) each played well in goal. Scott Reyen and Chris Ittieleg played good defense.

Drew Payton and Aaron Zaffos each had one goal and one assist for the Bolts. Kyle Irion and Alexander Hoffman each scored one goal and Matt Redmond and Franz Shelko each had one assist. March Stein (15 saves) and Travis Woehrman (10 saves) each played well in goal.

"This is probably the only tournament we'll get in this year so I'm glad we did well," said McDermitt, who is assisted by Bill Maccuch. "The kids played very well throughout the tournament, especially our goalies, Sam and Noah. They had to split playing time but they both did an outstanding job."

Drew Payton and Aaron Zaffos each scored one goal for the Bolts. Franz Shelko had one assist and Marc Stein (19 saves) and Travis Woehrman (three saves) played well in goal.

John Bolen scored two goals for the Red Hawks. Misha Malykh scored one goal and David Fitzpatrick made 21 saves.

HIGHLIGHTS: Misha Malykh scored two goals and David Fitzpatrick made 21 saves in net as the Red Hawks outshot MYHA White, 21-12.

HIGHLIGHTS: Dan Karbeling had two goals and one assist and Arthur Piles made 28 saves as the Winged Vipers improved to 1-2 at the MYHA House Holiday Classic.

Jake Zaika had one goal and one assist and Matt Mitchell, Joe Perone, Michael Simenauer and Alex Kahan each scored one goal. Luke Greiner and Jim Lacey each had one assist.

Sean Dinn scored two goals and Adam Fleishman made 16 saves in goal for the Flying Dragons. Jeremy Jacques scored one goal.
