Get in on the Act

The Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly membership meeting luncheon at 11:30 a.m. today, at the Montclair Country Club, 16500 Edgewood Dr. in Dumfries.

The main topic is "The Work Force Investment Act." The keynote speakers include Beth Beuhlmann, executive director of the Center for Workforce Preparation at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Rick Slusher, manager of the Prince William County office of the Virginia Employment Commission.

The luncheon also will include the induction of David Schwengel as president of the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The lunch costs members $16 in advance and $20 at the door and $20 for nonmembers. All are invited, and reservations are required. To make reservations, call the chamber at 703-590-5000.

Forecasting the Economy

The Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce is holding an "Economic Development Forecast" luncheon Tuesday.

The lunch will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Best Western Battlefield Inn, 10820 Balls Ford Rd. in Manassas.

Presenters will include Martin J. Briley, executive director of the Prince William County Economic Development Department; Roger Snyder, Manassas director of community development; David W. Reynal, Manassas Park city manager; and Mayor John R. "Jack" Kapp, of Haymarket.

Last Call for Nominations

The Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 11th Annual Shelley Krasnow Community Service Award.

Businesses and individuals are invited to nominate area nonprofits for their outstanding contributions to the community. The award consists of a $1,000 check for the organization to use in continuing its service to the community.

All nominations must be received by noon Friday.
