St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church of Bethesda has installed a new rector, the Rev. Jeffrey B. MacKnight, effective Dec. 1.
MacKnight, 40, is a graduate of the Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria and has served parishes in Nebraska, New Jersey and Maryland. He served, most recently, as rector of St. Philip's Episcopal Parish in Laurel and is editor of "Leaven," a publication for Episcopal clergy.
He is married and has two children. The family will move into St. Dunstan's rectory on March 1. The church is at 5450 Massachusetts Ave.
Ashton United Methodist Church in Ashton is sponsoring a praise and worship concert featuring David Parker from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The cost is $13 per person. An ecumenical celebration for Christian unity is set for 4 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockville. The event, coordinated by the Social Concerns Group of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church in Garrett Park, is part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and will include members from area churches, music and refreshments.
