Lucketts Church Offers Course on Christianity

"The Alpha Course," a 10-week class for those wanting to investigate Christianity, will begin at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the church house of Christ Church in Lucketts.

There is no charge for the course, which is offered for those who might be unlikely to attend a church service, those who never received a solid grounding in Christianity, newcomers to the church and anyone simply wanting to make friends. Child care will be provided. There is a small charge for dinner; the meal is followed by a talk and then small discussion groups. The program will end about 9:30 p.m.

Women's Group to Meet At Purcellville Library

Women's Aglow will meet from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Purcellville Library on Main Street. The guest speaker will be Chris Gramenopoulos, who will discuss spiritual lessons she has gleaned from her life experiences.

Seminarian to Speak On Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Unitarian Universalists of Sterling will host Roger Butts, a seminarian who will speak about Ralph Waldo Emerson and the poetic imperative, at the worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The service will focus on Emerson's address to the 1838 graduating class at Harvard Divinity School, which endorsed being open to various expressions of faith.

Butts, a published poet, is preparing for the Unitarian Universalist ministry and is a chaplain at American University.

The service will be at the Sterling Community Center Annex, at West Church and Shaw roads.
