Why should the voters elect you?

"Voters should elect me because I have a proven record of public and community service extending over a period of more than four decades. In addition to the elective offices listed, community activities have included presidencies of local Lions and Kiwanis clubs and a division lieutenant governor of the latter. I have also served on the Maryland State Senior Olympics Commission and have competed in the Senior Olympic Games for years. The singular evidence of my dedication to Anne Arundel County government service is my selection by my colleagues to serve as chairman of the County Council."

What would you like the voters to know about you?

"I want government closer to the people. The people should elect the president of the United States and members of the county school board."

Michael Malone (R)

Age: 34

Residence: Gambrills.

Education: Arundel Senior High School; BS, MS, West Virginia University; JD, University of Baltimore.

Occupation: Lawyer, Law Offices of Robert J. Fuoco.

Elected offices/civic activities: Treasurer, Waugh Chapel Elementary School PTA; member, Western District Police-Community Relations Council; past director, Anne Arundel Conflict Resolution Center; charter member, West Anne Arundel County Rotary Club; past foundation vice president, Kiwanis.

Why should the voters elect you?

"Education will be a top priority. I currently serve as the Waugh Chapel Elementary School PTA treasurer, so I am able to work within a tight budget. As your councilman, I will secure the funding necessary to keep our schools among the best in the state. A county is only as good as its schools. I will also bring civility and honor back to our County Council. Too often, our current council members put ego and politics ahead of the public good. When elected, I will work for you by putting people before politics."

What would you like the voters to know about you?

"I was raised in Anne Arundel County. My wife, Amy, and I are the proud parents of two wonderful sons, Matthew, 7, and Jonathan, 6."
