Dino E. Flores Jr. (D)

Age: 38

Residence: Frederick.

Education: BA, Duke University; JD, Georgetown University Law Center.

Occupation: Lawyer, Law Offices of Steven D. Kupferberg.

Elected offices/civic activities: Frederick County State's Attorney's Office, 1995-99; chief, Homicide/Violent Crime Division, 1996-99; Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office, 1992-94; associate member, Frederick Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 91, 1995-present.

Why should the voters elect you?

"Frederick County deserves honest and effective leadership from the state's attorney. For eight years, the incumbent has made promises that fail to become reality. Law enforcement has lost confidence in the state's attorney; not one organization has endorsed him. Instead, several have endorsed me. The office is in disarray: over the past four years, 15 prosecutors have left an office with only 20 attorneys. While criminal cases are increasing, the number of trials has plummeted. I will develop and implement training and guidelines in line with prosecutor's offices across the country. I promise fairness and professionalism."

What would you like the voters to know about you?

"I have a comprehensive plan and ambitious vision for the future. Please visit my Web site or call 301-662-0660 to receive printed information."

Scott L. Rolle* (R)

Age: 41

Residence: Frederick.

Education: BA, University of Dayton; JD, Ohio Northern University College of Law; FBI National Law Institute; U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Basic Course.

Occupation: State's attorney for Frederick County.

Elected offices/civic activities: Frederick County state's attorney, 1995-present; Army Reserve officer, 2001-present; member, Rotary Club of Carroll Creek; member, Character Counts Advisory Board; member, Maryland State's Attorneys Association.

Why should the voters elect you?

"It has been an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Frederick for eight years now. We have dramatically improved the state's attorney's office by hiring high-quality prosecutors, using state-of-the-art technology in court and by fighting for the rights of victims of crime. I support abolishing parole for violent and repeat offenders. I am a staunch advocate of juvenile justice, having started the Youthful Offender Program, an award-winning program designed to get young offenders on the right path before they get in serious trouble. I support being a proactive prosecutor's office, rather than reactive."

What would you like the voters to know about you?

"I have dedicated my life and career to serving my county and my country. I appreciate the great responsibility it is serving as state's attorney."
