Why should the voters elect you?

"We must urgently deal with the impact of runaway development in Montgomery County. That means stopping the vast flow of developer money into our politics -- money that shapes our current government policies. My Republican opponent listens to only one voice -- developers. It's reflected in how he favors more development over schools, sensible transportation solutions and health care. I believe the voice of the people is paramount. I will be their voice on the County Council. I'll fight to build the inner Purple Line; strengthen our schools; and improve county mental health care services."

What would you like the voters to know about you?

"I'm a lifelong Democrat who's never been afraid to stand up to big special interests. I can be tough but I also have compassion."

"I have unique experience, having worked effectively in local, state and federal levels of government. I take a moderate and balanced approach on issues before the council, including transportation, managed growth and education. I am an advocate of open government and fiscal prudence. I am a consensus builder who works well with colleagues and the executive branch. I support more public transportation, including Metro and buses, along with the intercounty connector that must and can be built in an environmentally sensitive manner.
