Mike Sneeringer (R)

Age: 67

Residence: College Hills/Catonsville.

Education: Loyola College, 1960.

Occupation: Business owner.

Elected offices/civic activities: "None. Raised seven children and never had the time. Now I'm ready, and I have the time."

Why should the voters elect you?

"Maryland has been a one-party state since 1969. Democrats have controlled the state Senate since 1898. Democrats have controlled the House of Delegates since 1923. As of this year, our current one-party legislature has run up a $1.7 billion budget shortfall. The state's budget has grown about 60 percent during Glendening's eight years. My opponent has been in the Senate for all of those eight years. It is time to give me and the Republican Party a chance. It is time we had two parties representing the good people of Maryland."

What would you like the voters to know about you?

"I have owned and operated a small business for over 30 years. I know how to make a budget and stick to it."
