Janet Greenip (R)

Age: 55

Residence: Crofton.

Education: BS, education, math, computer science, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio; post-graduate study, Bowie State University.

Occupation: State delegate.

Elected offices/civic activities: Maryland House of Delegates, 1995-present; Ways and Means Committee; Joint Committee of Fair Practices; Joint Investigation Committee; Joint Committee on Protocol; Special Joint Committee on Competitive Taxation and Economic Development, 1996-97; member, Women Legislators of Maryland, 1995; founding president, Greater Crofton Republican Women; Maryland Federation of Republican Women.

Why should the voters elect you?

"Serving in the Maryland House of Delegates has been a great honor for me. I have worked hard to support fiscal responsibility, government reform, and an overhaul of the Maryland education system (including abolishing MSPAP). There are many common-sense solutions to the problems facing Maryland today, from improving education and strengthening families to cutting taxes and working to attract good-paying jobs. I am running because I want to ensure that our government lives under the same laws that it imposes on individuals, making life easier for all residents of Maryland."

What would you like the voters to know about you?

"Many citizens believe Maryland is on the wrong track. I believe we can turn this around. That's why I am running for the state Senate."
