The following is the wording of the constitutional amendment questions that will appear on Tuesday's ballots statewide.

Question 1

District Court Commissioners -- Powers and Duties to Issue Civil Interim Peace and Protective Orders (HB 6, Chapter 587)

Authorizes laws that give District Court Commissioners power to issue civil interim peace orders and civil interim protective orders when the Office of the Clerk of the District Court is closed, in order to provide for 24-hour service and protection.

Question 2

Emergency Legislation Authority of the Maryland General Assembly (HB 346, Chapter 588)

Authorizes the Maryland General Assembly to pass emergency laws creating or abolishing any public office or changing the terms or duties of any officer.

Question 3*

Montgomery County -- Use of Licensed and Certified Real Estate Appraisers in Eminent Domain Proceedings (HB 403, Chapter 589)

Authorizes the Montgomery County Council to appoint a licensed and certified real estate appraiser to estimate the fair market value of property located in Montgomery County that is subject to immediate taking upon a finding that there is an immediate need for a right of way for county roads or streets.

* Although Question 3 affects only Montgomery County, it will appear on all general election ballots statewide because it requires a majority vote both statewide and in Montgomery County to take effect.
