Driving Hot Spots

Following is a selection of construction projects and road closures for the coming week. Weather conditions and equipment availability could affect the timing of these projects.

1. Springfield interchange:

Two or more lanes may close from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday.

2. Bladensburg Rd. NE:

Lane closures from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays and possibly Saturdays between Douglas St. and New York Ave.

3. I-395:

Occasional non-rush hour closure of a northbound lane over George Washington Memorial Parkway.

4. 16th St. NW:

Lane closures between Alaska Ave. and Primrose Rd. from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

5. Anacostia Frwy.:

Non-rush hour intermittent lane closures daily between the District line and Chesapeake St. SW.

6. N St. NW:

Closed between Seventh and Ninth streets.

7. Oxon Hill Rd.:

Alternating lane closures as needed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Nov. 25 from Bald Eagle Dr. to 500 feet west of I-295.

8. Capital Beltway, inner loop:

From Route 1 to Telegraph Rd., right lane closed from noon to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday.

9. Route 29:

Single and double lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday between Route 99 and Route 100, for two or three weeks.

Mass Transit Update Metro:

Elevator upgrades will be performed at the Franconia-Springfield Station through Nov. 21 and at the Van Ness-UDC Station through Tuesday. Shuttle bus service will be available by calling 202-962-1825.

Tip of the Week As the area prepares for colder weather, AAA Mid-Atlantic reminds drivers to check their tires for tread wear and make sure they are not under-inflated.
