Unity of Fairfax will celebrate the opening of its new church at 4 p.m. Sunday with a dedication and blessing ceremony. A dinner of thanksgiving will follow.

Recent growth of the congregation prompted construction of the new complex.

"Many people often tell us they find Unity to be a spiritual homecoming because our philosophy resonates so closely with their personal beliefs," Donna Dearmore, the church's co-minister, said in a statement.

Co-minister Terry Dearmore added, "With our expanded space, we can serve the needs of more people in our community." The ministers, a husband and wife team, have led the congregation since 1998.
