Victim identified: The man who was fatally shot in a Silver Spring parking lot Nov. 18 has been identified as Wesley Wayne King, 40, Montgomery County police said yesterday.
King, who had been shot several times, was found in the 3300 block of Parkford Manor Terrace in the Knightsbridge area, police said. Investigators could not identify him immediately after the shooting because he was carrying several identification cards with different names, police said. It was unclear where he had lived, police said.
Investigators do not have a motive or suspects, police said. King is the county's 29th homicide this year, the most in at least 10 years. Six of the homicides were sniper-related.
Murder conviction: A 21-year-old District native was convicted of first-degree murder this week in the Feb. 2 slaying of a fellow student at West Virginia University, the chief prosecutor said.
Brian Bush Ferguson, an undergraduate at WVU, was charged with shooting Jerry Wilkins, 27, outside Wilkins's apartment in Morgantown, W.Va. Marcia Ashdown, prosecuting attorney for Monongalia County, said the two had a dispute over a woman.
Wilkins was a graduate student who had already landed a job with the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, Ashdown said. Ferguson was convicted after a jury trial, and the jury recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole.
