Danielle Smith, 19, of Fort Washington, will compete for the title of Miss Maryland USA 2003 tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina in Cambridge.

Smith, a 2001 graduate of Bishop Ireton High School, attends Elon University in North Carolina. She enjoys reading, dancing and playing the piano. She is on the dean's list and is an Elon University Presidential Scholar and an active member of Alpha Phi Omega, a national co-ed service fraternity.

The woman chosen as Miss Maryland USA 2003 will represent Maryland in the 2003 Miss USA Competition, to be broadcast live on NBC.

University of Maryland College Park student Jennine Jefferson was included on the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the 2001 fall semester.

The Bowie resident and 2001 graduate of Eleanor Roosevelt High School completed 12 credits during her first semester with a 3.5 grade-point average.
