Runner of the Year

Lauren Centrowitz, Broadneck, Jr.

Centrowitz, who repeats as The Washington Post's All-Met runner of the year, didn't lose a race this fall. She won county, region and state titles, and her state championship time of 19 minutes 9.39 seconds was the fifth-fastest at the Hereford High course.

Coach of the Year

Dana Dobbs, Broadneck

Dobbs led the Bruins to their first county and state championships, knocking off rival Severna Park on the way. Broadneck ended the Falcons' run of five consecutive county titles.

First Team

Lynn Blubaugh, Chesapeake, Sr.: Blubaugh recorded three wins this season and four top 10 performances in six major meets. She was eighth at the county championships in 23:09, and her fifth-place finish at the Meade Classic led the Cougars to second place.

Ashley Heim, Severna Park, Sr.: As the Falcons' No. 3 runner, Heim placed ninth at the county championships in 23:12.5 and seventh at the Anne Arundel County Invitational. She was 11th at the 3A East Region meet and 25th at states.

Marissa McPhail, Arundel, Fr.: McPhail made a name for herself with a fourth-place finish at the county championships in 22:04.9 and fifth place at the Class 4A East Region meet in 19:38. She placed 12th at the state meet and fifth in the large-schools division at the Doc Jones Anne Arundel County Invitational.

Emily Nagle, Broadneck, Soph.: In her first year competing, Nagle was runner-up to Centrowitz at the county championships and fourth at the 4A East Region meet in 19:37. She placed sixth at states and at the Knights' Invite.

Stephanie Newton, Severna Park, Jr.: Captain placed fourth at the state meet (20:21.7), second at the Class 3A East Region meet and third in the county. She was 15th at the Bull Run Invitational and sixth at the Doc Jones Anne Arundel County and Howard County Striders invitationals.

Casey-Shea Stephens, Severna Park, Soph.: Stephens finished fourth at the 3A East Region meet, seventh at the county championships and 11th in the large-schools division at the Doc Jones Anne Arundel County Invitational.

Susan St. Cyr, Broadneck, Jr.: St. Cyr's best top 10 finishes were sixth at the county championships in 22:48.2 and ninth at the Doc Jones Invite. The Bruins' captain placed 13th at the Class 4A East Region meet and 14th at the Knights' Invite.

Alyssa Super, St. Mary's, Jr. Super owns the Saints' home-course record of 18:46 and won the Doc Jones Invitational, leading the Saints to third overall in the small-schools division. She was sixth at the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference championship meet in 20:03.

Sophie Thibodeau, Broadneck, Sr.: A four-year varsity runner, Thibodeau ended her career with a fifth-place finish at counties in 22:23.9, seventh at the Class 4A East Region meet and 16th at the state meet. She was eighth in the large-schools division at the Doc Jones Anne Arundel County Invitational.
