Mickey Thompson

Stone Bridge, third season

Despite relying heavily on a junior class of primarily first-year varsity players, he led the Bulldogs to their first playoff appearance and AA Division 4 Region II title. Stone Bridge has improved in each season, capped by a 10-3 mark this year. His career record is 91-53 with three regional titles.

DL Luke Walter, Park View, 6-1, 190, Sr. -- In only his second year of football, he was named second team All-Region II on offense and defense. Had a team-high five sacks and blocked two kicks and a punt.

DL Peter Christensen, Stone Bridge, 6-0, 215, Jr. -- Second-team All-Region II anchored the Bulldogs' much-improved defense, especially against the run. He made 45 solo tackles and 66 overall and had 3 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries.

DL Charles Jenkins, Fauquier, 5-7, 190, Sr. -- Second-team All-Region II was the spirited leader of the Falcons' turnaround. He was the leading tackler with 73 and led the Falcons with 5 sacks. He was the second-leading rusher with 556 yards and a team-high 10 touchdowns.

LB Josh Ashby, Loudoun County, 5-7, 170, Sr. -- Lack of size did not to deter the Dulles District defensive player of the year from amassing 105 tackles and almost always being a few feet from the ball at the end of each play. He led the Raiders with 806 yards rushing. Agreed to play at Shenandoah University.

LB Tim Gossett, Fauquier, 6-2, 185, Sr. -- In his first year as a starter, he had 120 tackles and was named All-Region II.

LB Danny Kramer, Potomac Falls, 5-11, 225, Sr. -- Repeat All-Dulles District and All-Extra had 95 tackles and recovered 4 fumbles and was a strong blocker at fullback.

LB Doug Heath, Liberty, 5-11, 189, Jr. -- All-Region II led the Eagles with 80 tackles, including seven for losses. At fullback, he rushed for 623 yards and six touchdowns.

DB A.J. Brown, Liberty, 6-1, 187, Jr. -- Repeat All-Region II and All-Extra led a defense that allowed 205 passing yards all season. He had 65 tackles, 2 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries and broke up 14 passes. He was the leading rusher with 934 yards and nine touchdowns.

DB Landon Gouveia, Stone Bridge, 5-7, 155, Jr. -- All-Region II was perhaps the area's best all-around player, with 41 solo tackles and a team-highs 4 interceptions and 5 passes broken up. Equally effective on offense, he ran for 1,003 yards and 14 touchdowns and caught 17 passes, including 3 for scores.

DB Ike York, Park View, 5-7, 170, Sr. -- All-Dulles District allowed only two pass completions, mainly because he intercepted three and broke up six more.

P Jamie Reder, Fauquier, 5-8, 160, Jr. -- All-Region II averaged 38.6 yards on 40 punts and was 5 for 7 on field-goal attempts, with a best of 42 yards against Culpeper.
