ROBBERIES

FARRAGUT AVE., 3700 block, 5:35 p.m. Dec. 13. A masked male carrying a bag in a bank ordered a teller to the floor, then took cash from the bank cash drawers. The robber was seen getting into a silver 1999 Nissan Altima with Maryland registration.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

BRIXTON LANE, 9700 block, 1 to 6 p.m. Dec. 12. Property was stolen from a residence entered by opening a front door.

NICHOLSON LANE, 5640 block, 7:36 to 7:51 a.m. Dec. 13. A rear door at a business was pried. Nothing was reported stolen.

WISCONSIN AVE., 5500 block, 1:30 to 1:32 a.m. Dec. 14. A jewelry store was entered by breaking through a front door. Nothing was reported stolen.

GERMANTOWN DISTRICT

ASSAULTS

EMORY GROVE RD., 8200 block, 4:30 p.m. Dec. 7. A man attending a birthday party at a recreation center left the party and returned after most of the guests had left. He randomly shot a man in the head with a .22-caliber handgun. The victim was treated and released from a local hospital. A Gaithersburg man was arrested at his place of employment and charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, use of a handgun in a felony and reckless endangerment.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

FREDERICK AVE. N., 19750 block, Dec. 6. A locker at a fitness center was broken into and a club member's wallet and credit card were stolen. A short time later, a man captured on a Lakeforest Mall video surveillance camera was seen trying to use the stolen credit card. Jewelry was purchased with the card before the theft was discovered.

MATENY RD., 18070 block, 4:20 a.m. Dec. 11. DVD players were stolen from an electronics retail store entered by breaking a front window.

MORROW RD., 16200 block, 12:30 a.m. Dec. 17. A side window frame at a residence was pried. Nothing was reported stolen.

MUSSER CT., 19600 block, 11:40 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 12. A dog was stolen from a residence entered through an unlocked side door.

PEANUT MILL DR., 10000 block, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 16. Two video-game systems and games were stolen from a residence entered by forcing a basement door.

SUGAR CANE LANE, 24000 block, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 16. A residence was entered by forcing a basement door. Nothing was reported stolen.

GAITHERSBURG DISTRICT

ROBBERIES

DIAMOND AVE. W., 1 to 100 block, 12:01 a.m. Dec. 15. Two male youths asked a 34-year-old man to let them into a locked building. The man refused. One youth then pulled out a knife and demanded the man's car keys. The man refused again, then ran away. Nothing was reported taken.

LAKE SHORE DRIVE, 6:30 a.m. Dec. 11. A male in a parking lot near a Motor Vehicle Administration building pushed a 28-year-old woman walking to a bus stop, took her pocketbook and ran off.

LOST KNIFE ROAD, 10 p.m. Dec. 12. Two men haled a 29-year-old Gaithersburg man leaving a shopping mall, and one of them pulled out a gun and demanded cash. The man turned over his wallet and asked that only the cash be taken. The gunman complied. Both men fled on foot.

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE AVE., 19300 block, 8:50 p.m. Dec. 17. Two men entered a gas station, overpowered a clerk, took cash and fled on foot. A police officer saw the incident and pursued the men with other officers. A 33-year-old man of no fixed address and a 27-year-old Gaithersburg man were arrested and charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and felony theft. The younger man was charged also with assault and resisting arrest.

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE AVENUE AND CLUBHOUSE ROAD, 7 p.m. Dec. 13. A man at a bus stop stood near a 40-year-old woman, then grabbed her purse. She struggled with the robber but he took her purse and fled on foot.

STATE CT., 1 to 100 block, 12:50 a.m. Dec. 17. A 32-year-old cab driver picked up a youth from the Shady Grove Metro station and drove him to the above location, where the youth placed a knife to the driver's throat and demanded cash. The man gave the robber cash from his pockets. The robber then fled.

STEDWICK AND WATKINS MILL ROADS, 12:55 a.m. Dec. 14. Two men, one with a shiny object in his hand, accosted a 34-year-old pedestrian. One of the men hit the pedestrian in the face and they both took cash and a wallet from the man and fled on foot.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

BEECHCRAFT AVE., 7860 block, 3 p.m. Dec. 14 to 7:30 a.m. Dec. 15. A padlock on a rear door at a construction company was cut. Nothing was reported stolen.

BLUE SMOKE DR., 8800 block, 1:58 to 2 a.m. Dec. 10. A rear sliding glass door at a residence was lifted off. Nothing was reported stolen.

FREDERICK AVE. N., 18500 block, 10 p.m. Dec. 10 to 8:36 a.m. Dec. 11. Property was stolen from a market entered by breaking out a front door.

KEY WEST AVE., 9400 block, 3 p.m. Dec. 14 to 10:38 a.m. Dec. 15. A computer business was entered by prying a front door. Nothing was reported stolen.

KEYMAR WAY, 19300 block, noon to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 10. A computer, a VCR and shoes were stolen from a residence entered through an unlocked front door.

LUANNE DR., 15940 block, 1 p.m. Dec. 14 to 8 a.m. Dec. 16. Cash was stolen from a business entered by prying a front-door lock.

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE AVE., 19240 block, 6 to 11:20 p.m. Dec. 9. A business was entered by breaking out an office door. Nothing was reported stolen.

RUSSELL AVE., 900 block, 4 p.m. Dec. 11 to 8 a.m. Dec. 12. Cash and a computer monitor were stolen from a business entered by prying an office door frame.

SEQUOIA DR., 17600 block, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 14. A front door frame at a residence was pried. Nothing was reported stolen.

SHADY GROVE RD., 15200 block, 7:30 p.m. Dec. 12 to 8:20 a.m. Dec. 13. Cash and sunglasses were stolen from an eye-and-vision care business entered by prying a rear door.

SHADY SPRING DR., 8200 block, 4:40 to 5:06 p.m. Dec. 11. A computer and a calculator were stolen from a residence entered through a rear window.

TRAVIS VIEW CT., 1200 block, 11:20 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Dec. 12. A DVD player, a video-game system and games, clothing and jewelry were stolen from a residence entered by forcing a basement door.

WEST SIDE DR., 800 block, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 12. Molding of a sliding glass door at a residence was pried. Nothing was reported stolen.

WESTLAND DR. N., 8940 block, 7 p.m. Dec. 8 to 7 a.m. Dec. 9. Cash was stolen from an insurance-and-bonding company entered through an unlocked rear door.

WHEELWRIGHT DR., 19900 block, 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Dec. 9. A video-game system and games were stolen from a residence entered by climbing through a rear door.

ROCKVILLE DISTRICT

ASSAULTS

RESEARCH BLVD., 2440 block, 5:49 a.m. Dec. 15. Three employees of a Rockville company were checking on computer problems when they heard a noise outside the building and saw a man holding a crowbar. They asked him to drop the tool. He refused and the employees grabbed the crowbar but the intruder then pulled out a knife. The employees disarmed the man and two of them held him while the third employee called police. A D.C. man, 49, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree assault, one count of second-degree burglary, one count of fourth-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia.

ROBBERIES

MUNCASTER MILL RD., 7200 block, 8:35 p.m. Dec. 12. A man yanked a purse from the shoulder of a 40-year-old woman leaving a pharmacy. The robber ran through a parking lot toward Shady Grove Road.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

FREDERICK RD., 16000 block, 1:29 a.m. Dec. 13. Property was stolen from an automotive repair business entered by breaking out a garage door.

SILVER SPRING DISTRICT

ROBBERIES

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE., 7:50 p.m. Dec. 10. One of two men in a supermarket parking lot demanded cash at knifepoint from a 37-year-old woman getting out of her vehicle. He then took her purse and both men fled in a blue, 1998 Toyota Previa van, with Maryland plates.

SUN VALLEY CIR., 2300 block, 8:15 a.m. Dec. 15. Three men posed as utility workers at a residence and when a man opened a door, they pulled out weapons and tried to force the man back into his residence. He escaped and called police from a neighbor's house. The three men entered the residence and attacked a male visitor. The visitor's jaw was fractured. He was treated at a local hospital and released. Police responded to the residence and arrested a Silver Spring man, 25, a D.C. man, 22, and a Lanham man, 19. The men were charged with armed robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit a robbery and use of a handgun in commission of a felony. A revolver, a sawed-off shotgun and a knife were recovered.

BONIFANT ST., 900 block, 6 p.m. Dec. 7 to 6:36 a.m. Dec. 9. Cash was stolen from a health-food store entered by breaking out a front door.

BROADMORE RD., 12900 block, 8 to 8:25 p.m. Dec. 12. Property was stolen from a residence entered through a basement window.

COLUMBIA PIKE, 10770 block, 6 p.m. Dec. 6 to 7 a.m. Dec. 9. A computer was stolen from an investment company entered by breaking through a front door.

ELTON RD., 1730 block, 11:25 p.m. Dec. 11. Property was stolen from a cafe{acute} entered by prying a front door.

FEBRUARY CIR., 11500 block, Nov. 3 to Nov. 19. Jewelry and a cell phone were stolen from a residence.

FOREST HILL DR., 2000 block, 6:40 p.m. Dec. 14 to 1 a.m. Dec. 15. A residence was entered by breaking a rear window. Nothing was reported stolen.

GEORGIA AVE., 7890 block, 1:15 a.m. Dec. 11. Cash was stolen from a hair studio entered by breaking glass of a front door.

LOCKWOOD DR., 11200 block, 2:10 to 9 p.m. Dec. 8. Cash was stolen from a residence entered through an unlocked front door.

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE., 11250 block, 2:45 to 2:50 a.m. Dec. 11. Property was stolen from a department store entered by forcing a rear door.

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE., 12250 block, 1:41 a.m. Dec. 16. Property was stolen from a department store entered by breaking through a rear door.

TECH RD., 12200 block, 7:25 p.m. Dec. 11 to 8:30 a.m. Dec. 12. Computers and monitors were stolen from a business entered by prying a front door.

WHEATON/GLENMONT DISTRICT

ROBBERIES

OLNEY-SANDY SPRING RD., 3400 block, 4:10 p.m. Dec. 16. A gunman in a beer-and-wine store announced a robbery. As a cashier attempted to open the cash register, another customer walked in and the robber fled. He was seen getting in a silver Chrysler PT Cruiser with Maryland registration. At 4:40 p.m., an off-duty police officer located the vehicle in the 5000 block of Olney-Sandy Spring Rd., waited for additional police to respond and stopped the vehicle. A 47-year-old Oxon Hill man was arrested and charged with armed robbery. A weapon was recovered from the vehicle.

BALTIMORE ROAD AND ROUTE 28, 8:16 p.m. Dec. 12. A 23-year-old Derwood man was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, possession of a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with an incident at the above location.

MANNAKEE ST., 1 to 100 block, 5 p.m. Dec. 13. A wallet was stolen from a desk.

MAPLE AVE., 1000 block, 8 p.m. Dec. 14 to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 15. Two DVD players, two video console units and two banks were stolen from a residence.

ROCKVILLE PIKE, 1500 block, 6 to 6:30 a.m. Dec. 13. A business was entered by prying a rear door and a cash drawer was destroyed. Nothing was reported stolen.

ROCKVILLE PIKE, 800 block, 6 p.m. Dec. 13 to 8 a.m. Dec. 14. A business was entered by breaking through rear service door at an auto-repair business garage. A customer's vehicle key was removed from the garage night drop box and the vehicle was stolen.

ROCKVILLE PIKE, 800 block, 8:10 a.m. Dec. 14. A man in a store asked to purchase four cartons of cigarettes. When the cashier placed the cigarette cartons on the counter, the man took them and fled.

GLENSIDE DR., 7800 block, 10 p.m. Dec. 14 to 10 a.m. Dec. 15. A 2001 Honda Prelude was stolen.

HOLLY AVE., 7500 block, 1:45 p.m. Dec. 14 to 12:45 p.m. Dec. 15. An attempt was made to steal an unlocked 1991 Honda Civic. The car's ignition was damaged during the theft attempt.

MERRIMAC DR., 900 block, 1:05 to 3:05 a.m. Dec. 14. An attempt was made to steal an unlocked 1994 Honda Accord. The car's ignition was damaged during the theft attempt. Property was stolen from the vehicle.

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE., 7300 block, 7 p.m. Dec. 13 to 6:45 a.m. Dec. 14. A 1995 Isuzu Rodeo was stolen.
