Md. man faces murder charge: A Prince George's County man was charged yesterday with first-degree murder while armed in the Oct. 27 slaying of an 18-year-old in Northwest Washington, according to D.C. police.

Brian C. White, 20, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. at his home in the 7800 block of Johnson Avenue in Glenarden, authorities said. He is charged in the death of Shawn Garcia, whose body was found in the street in the 5500 block of Second Street NW, where he lived, police said.

Postal carrier robbed in NW: A masked gunman was chased down and arrested yesterday morning after robbing a U.S. Postal Service carrier in Northwest Washington, authorities said.

According to D.C. police, the carrier was holding a package and walking in the 6400 block of Georgia Avenue NW about 11:30 a.m. when a white Nissan Maxima, occupied by two men, pulled up beside him. A masked gunman jumped out, took the package and cash and fled. Police would not say what was in the package.

After being chased by officers on Blair Road and Kansas Avenue NW, the men abandoned their vehicle in the 5400 block of 15th Avenue in Chillum, police said. A brief foot chase ensued, and one of the men was caught, police said. Lafonzo Williams, 35, of Northeast Washington, is charged with armed robbery of a postal employee and will be arraigned in federal court on Monday, police said.
