Cat Dies After Dog Attack

West Friendship, Howard Lodge Dr., 12300 block, 2:20 p.m. Jan. 3. Animal control officials received a report that two dogs attacked and injured a cat Jan. 1 that later died from its wounds. The cat had tried to hide under a car at its owner's residence when it was attacked, reportedly by a mixed golden-and-Labrador retriever and a German shepherd that belonged to the cat owner's neighbor. The dogs were chased away, and the cat owner took the cat to a veterinarian, where it died of its injuries two days later. The case remained under investigation.

Police Rescue Dog From Pool

Ellicott City, Frederick Rd., 11700 block, 12:45 p.m. Jan. 7. Animal Control received a report of a dog that had fallen into a swimming pool. Police rescued the dog and returned it to its owner while an animal control driver was en route.
