The Community Ministry of Prince George's County offers several programs for community residents. The Answer Center is an information and referral program for social services throughout the county. The Community Place Cafe, at First United Methodist Church of Hyattsville, serves free hot lunches to homeless and low-income people and offers mental health, legal and employment services as well as information and referrals. The Patricia E. Brown Sharing Fund is a revolving loan program designed to help families avoid eviction and utility cutoff. The Step Up program provides housing and employment counseling and referrals for homeless and other at-risk individuals to help them in their transition to a stable lifestyle. Warm Nights is a rotating emergency shelter that serves meals and provides beds each winter to homeless people, and provides transportation, employment assistance and medical and mental health services.
