When: Dulles -- Friday, 7;

Northwestern -- Saturday, 10 a.m.

Where: Dulles -- Ida Lee Recreation Center; Northwestern -- Jim Barnett Park, Winchester.

Defending Champions: Dulles -- Potomac Falls boys and girls; Northwestern -- Liberty boys, Fauquier girls.

Dulles Outlook: Juniors Peter Sturke and Steven Antolik ensure that the Potomac Falls boys remain the favorite, but Loudoun Valley and Broad Run will push them. The Potomac Falls girls, behind junior Becky Horning, face a similarly close battle against Stone Bridge, with Megan Newell, and Broad Run, with sophomore distance swimmer Danielle Mortensen. In girls' dual meets this season, Broad Run upended Potomac Falls, Stone Bridge beat Broad Run and Potomac Falls defeated Stone Bridge. "It's going to be extremely close," said Potomac Falls Coach Shalynn Bain.

Northwestern Outlook: Fauquier and Liberty will likely produce team champions. Junior Tommy Gager and seniors Chris Hall and Willy Holgate led the Falcons boys to an undefeated regular season. Liberty senior Marnie Rognlien and junior Jessica Mills did the same for the Eagles girls. But the margin may not be overwhelming because in the teams' second meeting, boys' and girls' competitions were decided by 10 points or less. Liberty protested the second boys' meet, an 88-81 Fauquier victory, because of a disqualified swimmer but dropped the protest because "it just wasn't worth it," Coach Martin Edwards said.
