MARYLAND APPALACHIAN TRAIL HIKE, for ages 8 and older, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 8 and 22 and March 8 and 22, six to 8.4 miles with moderately steep terrain, hike leaders will interpret points of interest; bring lunch, water and rain gear; dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable hiking boots or sturdy shoes; van transportation from Long Gate Parkway Park and Ride lot, Route 100 and Long Gate Parkway, Ellicott City. $15 per hike; preregistration required. 410-313-4719.

SENIORS WASHINGTON TRIP, for ages 55 and older, 9 a.m-4 p.m. Feb. 20, a bus will drop participants off at one of three museums on the Mall for time on your own; reboard the bus at any of the three locations at the end of the day, lunch on your own, call for departure points in Howard County. $20; preregistration required. 410-313-7279.
