Summer Day Camps Planned for Children

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will host a series of summer day camps in June and July for children 6 to 12. Camp programs will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Registration will begin April 1, and applications will be available at the Helen Avalynne Tawes Garden Gift Shop on Taylor Avenue in Annapolis.

Day camps for children 6 to 9 will be held from June 23 through 27, June 30 through July 3, July 14 through 18 and July 28 through Aug. 1. The registration fee for the June 30 through July 3 camp is $100. The registration fee for all other camps is $125.

Camps for children 10 to 12 will be held July 7 through 11 and 21 through 25. Registration is $150.

AACC Aquatics Classes Begin in February

Next month, Anne Arundel Community College will begin offering a series of aquatics classes at Daniel C. Olson Memorial Pool on the college's Arnold campus at 101 College Pkwy. An aquatic exercise class will be held from 11 to 11:50 a.m. and from 2 to 2:50 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Feb. 26 through April 7. Each session is $30.

Aquatic kickboxing will be offered from 2 to 2:50 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 4 through May 6. The course is $99.

Feb. 14 Is Deadline for Scholarship

Graduating seniors have until Feb. 14 to apply for scholarships from Scholarships for Scholars Inc., a nonprofit organization that has given out $1.4 million in college scholarships to Anne Arundel County seniors since 1985.

The organization will award 18 $4,000 scholarships, one scholarship for $5,000 and one for $6,000 to students with outstanding skills in art, business, economics, English, math, science and other areas.

MVA Offices, VEIP Stations to Close Feb. 17 The Motor Vehicle Administration will close its full service and express offices on Feb. 17 in observance of Presidents' Day. All Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) stations will also be closed on the holiday.

Drivers can renew vehicle registration on line at or by phone at 888-834-7344. Drivers can also renew at one of the 12 MVA kiosks in Beltsville, Greenbelt, Columbia, Gaithersburg, Glen Burnie, Towson, Owings Mills, Salisbury, Baltimore or Bethesda.
