Dog Owner Fined $500

Bethesda, Danbury Rd., 5200 block, Feb. 14. Animal Services responded to repeated complaints of dogs running loose at a residence. An officer found one dog tethered to a front stoop on a thin rope and choker. A second dog was loose on the property and chased the officer down the street. The dog continued to charge at the officer but did not get close enough to allow the officer to capture it. The officer went to the residence, where the front door was open, and issued the dogs' owner a $500 citation, a fine for allowing a dog to run loose, and provided a copy of animal cruelty regulations. The owner was advised that the dogs would be removed if found chained or running loose again.
