La Plata stunned fourth-seeded Calvert on Monday night with a 50-49 win in the Maryland 3A South Region quarterfinals.

Trailing 13-3 early in the game, the Warriors took as much as an eight-point lead late in the third quarter. Calvert (15-6) made a run in the fourth quarter and reclaimed the lead with just over a minute to play, but La Plata senior Ryon Rabon banked in a three-pointer from the top of the key with 50 seconds remaining to give the Warriors a one-point lead.

The Warriors (9-13) hosted SMAC champion Chopticon (17-2) on Wednesday in the semifinal round. (Results were not available at press time.)
