* SCHEDULE

Semifinals: Glen Burnie (19-5) vs. Magruder (21-3), 7 p.m. today; Oxon Hill (20-3) vs. Lake Clifton (20-4), 9 p.m. today. Final: 8 p.m. Saturday.

* TOURNAMENT HISTORY

Oxon Hill has reached the state tournament four times in six years but is back for the first time since winning the 4A title in 2000. The Clippers have won 14 of their past 15 games. Lake Clifton is making its third state tournament appearance in five years. The Lakers won the 4A title in 1999 over Oxon Hill. Anne Arundel's only hope of winning the county's first title in 13 years is Glen Burnie, which is in the state tournament for the first time since 1994. Magruder, the 4A champion in 2001, is the fifth Montgomery County school to advance to the state tournament in three consecutive seasons.

* KEY MATCHUP

Oxon Hill's press vs. Lake Clifton's offense: The Clippers' vaunted full-court press has been largely responsible for holding opponents to 52.4 points per game. Oxon Hill's press will have to be effective against Lake Clifton, because the Clippers will have trouble containing the Lakers' pair of 6-foot-8 forwards -- Tavon Nelson and Kyle Garrison -- if they can establish their half-court offense.

* BY THE NUMBERS

7Consecutive seasons in which a team from Prince George's has advanced to the state final. County 4A teams are 2-5 in championship games during that span, with wins by Oxon Hill (2000) and Eleanor Roosevelt (2002).

4A GIRLS

All Games at UMBC, Catonsville

* SCHEDULE

Semifinals: Arundel (22-3) vs. Churchill (22-2), 3 p.m. today; Oxon Hill (20-3) vs. Woodlawn (23-0), 5 p.m. today. Final: 3 p.m. Saturday.

* TOURNAMENT HISTORY

Oxon Hill is back in the state tournament for the sixth time in the past decade, but the Clippers are still in search of their first championship. Oxon Hill lost state finals against Arundel (2000) and Churchill (last year). Woodlawn has yet to win a semifinal game in three appearances, including a lopsided 63-40 loss to Oxon Hill a year ago. Arundel, on the strength of its 13-game winning streak, is making its third trip to the state semifinals in four years. Defending state champion Churchill is the fourth team from Montgomery County to earn three consecutive tournament appearances and has reached the final in its two previous trips.

* KEY MATCHUP

Oxon Hill C LaTricia Jones vs. Woodlawn F Ronda Shelley: The 6-2 Jones, who averages eight points and eight rebounds per game, is the only Oxon Hill starter taller than 5-9 and likely will draw the assignment of stopping the 5-11 Shelley (10.6 points, 9 rebounds). Jones is one of the area's few centers who is quick enough to play both perimeter and interior defense, as well as being able to score inside and outside on offense.

* BY THE NUMBERS

4Starters who have led the Clippers in scoring at least once this season. Junior guard Denesha Kenion has had team-high honors 13 times, including five times in the team's past six games.
