BETHESDA DISTRICT

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

EXECUTIVE BLVD., 6300 block, 5 p.m. Feb. 22 to 8 a.m. Feb. 23. Computers and monitors were stolen from an office entered by prying a front door.

FERNWOOD DR., 10200 block, 11:56 p.m. March 2. An office was entered through a side door. Nothing was reported stolen.

MONTGOMERY MALL, 10 p.m. Feb. 23 to 9:11 a.m. Feb. 24. A jewelry store was entered by breaking through a front window. Nothing was reported stolen.

MONTGOMERY MALL, 4 p.m. Feb. 22 to 10 a.m. Feb 23 and 4 p.m. Feb. 27 to 6 a.m. Feb. 28. Cash was stolen from a cafe at a shopping mall, entered by forcing a front door.

OLD GEORGETOWN RD., 8000 block, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 27. A scanner and a printer were stolen from an office at a church, entered by prying an office door lock.

WILLARD AVE., 5300 block, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 24. Cash, DVDs, a video-game system and games were stolen from a residence entered by forcing a basement door.

GERMANTOWN DISTRICT

ROBBERIES

GREAT SENECA HIGHWAY AT MATENY ROAD, 11 p.m. Feb. 24. Five or six youths accosted a 17-year-old Germantown boy riding his bike and one of the youths said he was armed with a knife and demanded the boy's bike. The boy ignored the threat and fled on his bike.

GAITHERSBURG DISTRICT

ASSAULTS

MERUST LANE, 9300 block, 1:10 a.m. March 2. Three males asked a taxi driver to take them to the District. The driver was assaulted and cut with a knife.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

FREDERICK AVE. N., 500 block, 4:27 a.m. Feb. 23. Cash and a cash drawer were stolen from a sub shop entered by breaking through a front door.

ROCKVILLE DISTRICT

ROBBERIES

MUNCASTER MILL RD., 7200 block, 10:40 a.m. March 1. Two men in an electronics store pretended to browse, lifted up a large glass case and walked out the door with a DVD player. The only employee in the store confronted the men and one of them implied being armed with a handgun. The robbers fled.

MONTGOMERY AVE. W., 1250 block, 10:27 p.m. Feb. 24. Three males, one armed with a handgun, entered a hotel and the armed male ordered a clerk to open a register, then reached over the counter and took cash. All three males then left by the hotel's front door.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

CRABBS BRANCH WAY, 16100 block, 11 p.m. Feb. 22 to 5 a.m. Feb. 23. A TV was stolen from a residence entered through a rear window.

FREDERICK RD., 16000 block, 10:25 to 10:47 p.m. Feb. 15. A muffler repair shop was entered by breaking a garage door. Nothing was reported stolen.

FREDERICK RD., 16200 block, 9 p.m. Feb. 21 to 4:10 a.m. Feb. 22. Cash was stolen from a technology networks business, entered by smashing out a front door.

MONTROSE VILLAGE TER., 12000 block, 5 p.m. Feb. 28. Food was stolen from a residence entered through a garage.

ROCKVILLE PIKE, 12200 block, 3:15 to 8:22 a.m. Feb. 23. A rear-door lock at a business was pried. Nothing was reported stolen.

SOUTHLAWN LANE, 600 block, 5 p.m. Feb. 26 to 8:30 a.m. Feb. 27. A computer and a printer were stolen from a Montgomery County social services agency entered through a front door.

SILVER SPRING DISTRICT

SEXUAL ASSAULTS

LOWANDER LANE, 700 block, 2:22 a.m. March 3. A 23-year-old female pedestrian saw a man approaching. She felt uneasy and tried unsuccessfully to activate her cell phone. The man forced her to the ground and she struggled with him. The man raped her and choked her until she passed out. She was in a vehicle driven by the attacker when she regained consciousness and escaped from the vehicle. She knocked on doors for help in the 800 block of Daleview Dr. when police responded to a call from residents and found the partially dressed woman.

ASSAULTS

BROADBIRCH DR., 2300 block, 6:33 p.m. Feb. 27. A man attempted to dump trash illegally. A 42-year-old Beltsville man was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and openly carrying a weapon with intent to injure in connection with the incident.

HEATHER HOLLOW CIR., 1500 block, 7:10 a.m. March 2. Police officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute. They found a female outside a residence who reported that a male acquaintance had grabbed her by the hair, pointed a handgun at her and threatened her. A 27-year-old Hyattsville man was arrested and charged with committing first- and second-degree assault, being a convicted felon in possession of a regulated firearm and using a handgun in the commission of a felony. A .38-caliber handgun was recovered from inside the residence.

ROBBERIES

ELTON RD., 1700 block, 6:40 a.m. Feb. 22. A youth with a gun accosted a 60-year-old woman as she drove up to an ATM at a bank and demanded her bank card. She complied, then pushed the gun away and drove off.

FERRARA DR., 3900 block, 10:15 p.m. March 1. Two males tried to take food from a 33-year-old man. When he refused, the males struck him in the face and one attacker pulled a knife on him.

GREER AND E. MELBOURNE AVENUES, 8 p.m. Feb. 28. A man forced a 31-year-old woman to the ground and grabbed her purse, then fled on foot. A bystander reported seeing a gun.

NAVAHOE DRIVE AND UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD, 11:26 p.m. Feb. 22. A male with a silver handgun demanded cash from a 34-year-old male pedestrian. The man handed over cash and a wallet. An older-model Honda pulled up and two males got out of the vehicle to join the robber. When a truck drove toward them, the pedestrian escaped and ran. The three males drove off in the Honda.

QUEBEC ST., 1100 block, 11 p.m. March 1. A 20-year-old man was drinking with friends, when a male with a large knife demanded cash. The man refused and the robber then cut the man on a thigh with the knife. Police responded. The man reportedly refused treatment. Nothing was reported taken.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

BROOKMOOR DR., 10000 block, 3 p.m. Feb. 21 to 8 a.m. Feb. 22. Jewelry was stolen from a residence entered by forcing a front door.

SLIGO CREEK PKWY., 9200 block, 8:30 p.m. Feb. 22. A residence was entered by breaking a side window. Nothing was reported stolen.

TIMBERWOOD DR., 1 to 100 block, 6:15 to 8 p.m. Feb. 21. A computer and a scanner were stolen from a residence entered by reaching through a rear door.

WEAPONS VIOLATIONS

LOST KNIFE CIR., 18300 block, 10:40 p.m. Feb. 28. Police officers assisted security officers in the arrest of three people. One of the people ran off and was seen throwing what appeared to be a handgun onto the ground. An 18-year-old Rockville man was arrested and charged with possession of a concealed deadly weapon, drug distribution with a gun, drug possession with the intent to distribute on school property, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest. The man also was charged with driving without a license and willfully disobeying lawful order and direction of a police officer. A loaded, .25-caliber Beretta handgun was recovered. A small bag of suspected marijuana also was recovered. The other two people were found not to be responsible for the weapon or drugs and were released.

Rockville

ROBBERIES

COVE LANE AND BALTIMORE ROAD, midnight to 12:15 a.m. March 1. A man asked a male waiting for a taxi for a light and, then ordered him to hand over cash. The robber then removed a large knife from his waistband, lunged at the male and struck him on an arm with the knife. No injuries were reported and nothing was reported taken.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

COVE LANE, 14000 block, noon Jan. 29 to noon Feb. 25. A DVD player, two speakers, a gold necklace and two gold rings were removed from a residence entered by breaking through a front door. The living room and bedroom of the residence were ransacked.

MARYLAND AVE., 100 block, 7:40 to 8 a.m. Feb. 27. A wallet was stolen from a purse.

RESEARCH BLVD., 1400 block, 3:45 p.m. Feb. 26 to 7 a.m. Feb. 27. Cash was stolen from a drawer at a business entered by using a key.

RESERVE CHAMPION DR., 300 block, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 25. A paint sprayer was stolen from an apartment under construction.

RIDGEWAY AVE., 5900 block, 4 p.m. Feb. 14 to 9 a.m. Feb. 24. A computer-network switch was removed from an unlocked closet at a school. Unidentified liquid was spilled into a printer and numerous wires from computer switches were unplugged.

VEIRS MILL RD., 2000 block, 8 p.m. March 1 to 4:20 a.m. March 2. Ten cartons of cigarettes were stolen from a vehicle entered by prying a driver's side door.

WESTMORE AVE., 7400 block, 7 to 10 p.m. Feb. 25. An ignition distributor was removed from a vehicle.

Takoma Park

ASSAULTS

FLOWER AVE., 7200 block, March 5. Two girls were arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

LEE AVE., 100 block, March 5. Officers responded to a call about juveniles fighting. A girl was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

ROBBERIES

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE., 7300 block, 8:20 p.m. March 6. A gunman got out of a blue Isuzu Trooper and demanded cash from a male in a parking lot. During the robbery, another man got out of the SUV. The male dropped cash on the ground while emptying out his pockets. Both men fled in the Trooper.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE., 6800 block, 11:02 a.m. March 5. The owner of a 1990 Toyota Camry left the keys in the ignition of his vehicle while he entered a store. The car was gone when he returned.

TAKOMA AVE., 7500 block, 6:40 to 8:55 p.m. March 5. An attempt was made to steal a 2000 Mazda Protege. A window of the vehicle was broken during the attempt.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

LARCH AVE., 1000 block, 11:54 p.m. March 2. Police responded to a report of people inside a building without permission and found six people who fled when the officers arrived. A man and three teenage boys were arrested and charged with fourth-degree burglary and trespassing. One person also was charged with possession of marijuana.
