Car Hits Ashburn Girl, 10, Near School
A 10-year-old Ashburn girl ran onto West Church Road near Sterling Elementary School and was struck by a car Tuesday evening. The girl was flown to Children's Hospital in the District, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office said no charges were pending against the driver.
Leesburg Wins Va. Grant for E. Market St.
The Commonwealth Transportation Board awarded $1.65 million to widen a half-mile of East Market Street in Leesburg to help revitalize the old town shopping district from Loudoun Street to Catoctin Circle.
The project also involves new sidewalks, traffic control devices and signals, landscaping, walls and relocation of utilities. Rustler Construction Inc. of Herndon is to begin the work later this spring.
VDOT to Break Ground on Rte. 606 Work
The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a groundbreaking at 11 a.m. tomorrow for the Route 606 widening and safety improvement project.
Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Chairman Scott K. York (R-At Large) and other officials are scheduled to attend the ceremony, at the south side of Routes 50 and 606.
The project involves widening about one mile of Route 606 from two lanes to four lanes between Route 50 and Evergreen Mills Road in Arcola. It includes drainage improvements and realigning the intersection at Evergreen Mills Road.
