Victim identified: Police yesterday identified a man found fatally stabbed Sunday outside a nightclub on F Street NW. Donald W. Notice Jr., 32, of New York City, was found lying on a walkway outside the VIP Club about 3:35 a.m. Police said he may have been in an argument inside the club before the stabbing.
Death ruled a homicide: The suspicious death of a 49-year-old Alexandria woman has been ruled a homicide, and an autopsy has determined that she died of a gunshot wound, Alexandria police said yesterday.
The body of Gail E. Collins was discovered in her Aspen House apartment in the 3200 block of Landover Street on Friday after her family contacted police. Collins had not been at work for days, and her employer contacted the family Friday, police said.
Her death is the first homicide in Alexandria this year, police said.
Murder indictment: A 34-year-old Warrenton man accused of killing his friend with a rolling pin and a kitchen knife was indicted yesterday on three capital murder charges in Fauquier County.
Christopher G. Steele, an unemployed construction worker, is being held without bond at a regional jail in Winchester. He also is accused of attacking the friend's wife and tying her up.
Authorities said Steele visited Larry and Margaret Andrews at their Warrenton home March 6. Later that evening and the next morning, Steele allegedly bashed Larry Andrews's head with a rolling pin and cut his torso. He punched Margaret Andrews, tied her to her bed and gagged her with duct tape, Warrenton Police Chief Roger Paul said.
Homicides: A woman was fatally shot in a Germantown apartment building last night, Montgomery County police said. Police got the call about 9:40 p.m. and found a woman shot in the head at 19925 Sweetgum Circle in Germantown, a police spokesman said. The woman, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead on the scene.
