Center Starts Program

In Thoracic Oncology

Anne Arundel Medical Center has established a thoracic oncology program to assist patients suffering from benign and malignant chest tumors and other thoracic conditions.

The program consists of 15 board-certified physician specialists and is designed to improve, coordinate and expedite the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary nodules, lung tumors, esophageal tumors and pleural tumors. Patients will also have access to the medical center's on-site MRI, CT and CT/Positron Emission Tomography hybrid screening equipment.

Hospital Hires Manager

Of Finance Applications

Bart Rowe of Arnold is North Arundel Hospital's newly appointed senior manager of financial applications for its information systems department. Rowe will oversee six employees and manage projects and financial software applications. Before going to North Arundel, Rowe served as a major gift officer for the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation and managed and coordinated fundraising events.

Rowe received a bachelor's degree in physical science from the Naval Academy in 1984. He is a member of the national Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the Maryland Society of Healthcare Information Systems Management.

Five Named to Board

Of Hospice Foundation

Mark Powell, Robert Maloney, Trish Miller, Mark Anders and Carol Kasper were elected in February to the board of the Hospice of the Chesapeake Foundation.

Powell, of Severna Park, was elected foundation chairman. The Naval Academy graduate is the chief executive of AlwaysOnline, an Internet support services company in Crofton.

Maloney, of Annapolis, was elected vice chairman of the foundation. He has served the foundation for three years and is a financial analyst for R.E. Maloney Associates.

Miller, of Annapolis, was elected foundation secretary. She is a lawyer and president of the National Institute for Conflict Resolution. She is also founder of Anne Arundel County's Court Appointed Special Advocates organization.

Anders, of Baltimore, was elected treasurer. Anders, a bank executive, has held chief executive positions at BankAnnapolis and Sterling Bank and Trust Co.

Kasper, of Annapolis, was elected director emeritus of the foundation and is vice president of customer development for BankAnnapolis. Hospice of the Chesapeake provide in-home hospice care, pain management, social work and spiritual and bereavement counseling for people throughout Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties.
