RITCHIE HWY., 5600 block, 1:50 a.m. March 17. Police responding to a burglar alarm at a service station found a broken window and a man hiding in the attic. A 25-year-old Ellicott City man was arrested.

SECOND AVE., 1-100 block, 7:15 to 9 a.m. March 11. A residence was entered by breaking a basement window. Nothing was reported missing.

BROOKLYN PARK AREA

ASSAULTS

FRANKLIN AVENUE AND RITCHIE HIGHWAY, 1:01 a.m. March 18. Police stopped a car lacking a front license plate. Drug paraphernalia was found in the glove box, and police arrested two male occupants of the vehicle. While being handcuffed, one man resisted, got back into the car, tried to obtain the officer's revolver and was sprayed with Mace. The man then started the car and accelerated, dragging the officer. A second officer narrowly missed being struck by the vehicle. When an officer managed to get into the car, the man rammed the rear end of a parked car, then got out and escaped after a foot chase. Police recovered a loaded revolver, heroin, .22 caliber bullets and cash. Police charged a 19-year-old Baltimore man with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and weapons offenses. The man that escaped was later identified as a 30-year-old Baltimore man. The case was under investigation.

SOLOMONS ISLAND RD., 3000 block, 3:46 a.m. March 14. A man at a service station implied that he had a weapon and robbed a 22-year-old Edgewater woman of cash. A short time later, police saw a vehicle matching the description of one driven by the suspect heading west on Route 665 toward Route 50 W. Police attempted a felony traffic stop on Route 50, but the driver continued for almost nine miles before pulling over near Route 197. A 27-year-old Bowie man was taken into custody. No weapon was recovered.

CENTRAL AVE. W., 100 block, 12:57 a.m. March 10. A motorcycle was stolen from a business entered by forcing a side door.

MAYO RD., 1100 block, midnight March 15 to 1 p.m. March 16. Cash and liquor were stolen from a business entered by breaking a rear glass door.

MAYO RD., 1200 block, 9 a.m. March 9 to 8 p.m. March 13. A residence was entered by forcing a basement window. Nothing was reported missing.

LAUREL FORT MEADE RD., 5 p.m. March 2. Two males robbed a man of property at gunpoint outside a business. On March 17, police executed a search and seizure warrant in the 800 block of Betsy Court in Annapolis. A short time later, a 19-year-old Severn man turned himself into police and was charged with two counts of armed robbery, use of a handgun in the commission of a felony and felony theft.

LAUREL FORT MEADE RD., 3600 block, 1:22 a.m. March 21. Two men, one armed with a rifle, robbed a service station of cash and fled on foot.

DEATHS

CITY DOCK, 8:35 a.m. March 18. The body of a man was found floating in the Chesapeake Bay near City Dock in downtown Annapolis. He was identified as Greg Allen Hiner, 47, of Kennett Square, Pa. His 26-foot sailboat was located nearby. The cause of death was under investigation.

SEXUAL ASSAULTS

COPELAND DR., 1800 block, 3:48 p.m. March 13. A 24-year-old Annapolis man was arrested at the above location in connection with the Feb. 14 rape of a 48-year-old woman in Glen Burnie. A man had entered a residence occupied by the woman by removing a screen and unlocking a window. A cell phone stolen during the assault was allegedly traced to the suspect, who was charged with rape, burglary and assault.
