Man Charged With Cruelty
Hybla Valley area, Fordson Rd., 7200 block, 7:30 p.m. March 7. A 25-year-old Hybla Valley man was charged with animal cruelty in connection with an incident in which a female pit bull puppy was left with a bag of dog food in a dumpster. A 26-year-old female friend of the suspect allegedly attempted to impede the investigation and was charged with obstruction of justice.
A person jumped into the dumpster to rescue the puppy, which is in good condition in foster care.

Escaped Cat Caught Hours Later
Lee Hwy., 9800 block, March 13. A cat escaped from its owner in the parking lot of an animal hospital and ran across Lee Highway into woods behind a business. An animal control officer set a trap, and the cat was caught in it several hours later and returned to its owner.
Owner of Straying Dogs Charged
Plantation Pkwy., 3100 block,
March 17. A person found two stray retriever-type dogs, and an animal
control officer took them to their home. The dogs' owner was issued a summons for allegedly allowing the dogs to run at
