FAIR OAKS DISTRICT

ASSAULTS

COMPTON AND CENTREVILLE ROADS, 11:30 p.m. March 22. A man in a car with two male acquaintances became agitated and stabbed both. He then ran from the car. One of the injured men drove to a nearby fire station, where they received treatment, and they were later taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital. The assailant then broke a window of a residence and attempted to enter, and police were called. A 23-year-old Centreville man was charged with malicious wounding, destruction of property, possession of false identification and public drunkenness.

ST. GERMAIN DR., 14000 block, 2 a.m. March 27. A man with a handgun robbed a 52-year-old male clerk of cash.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

BELCHER FARM DR., 5700 block. A stereo was stolen from a vehicle.

COMPTON RD., 14600 block. Construction materials were stolen from a construction site.

ROBBERIES

HATCHER ST., 3100 block, 9:50 p.m. March 24. Two men, one with a knife, robbed a pizza deliveryman of cash.

INDUSTRIAL RD., 6700 block, 8:15 p.m. March 22. Three men pushed a 55-year-old male employee of an armored vehicle company and took his weapon and ammunition. The men then demanded to be allowed into a vault. The employee entered the vault but was able to close the door and prevent the robbers from entering. The men fled before police arrived.

BACKLICK RD., 6600 block. Gas was stolen from a service station.

CINNAMON CT., 6100 block. A bicycle was stolen.

COVERDALE WAY, 5900 block. License plates were stolen from a vehicle.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

BALLYCASTLE CIRCLE AND CASTLEWELLAN DRIVE, 9:30 p.m. March 22. Police attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by two males after police checked a license plate and discovered that the car had been reported stolen from Maryland. The driver sped away, striking a police car and a tree. The occupants of the vehicle were treated at the scene for injuries. A 15-year-old District male was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, attempted malicious wounding, speeding to elude and driving without a license. A 16-year-old District male was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of burglary tools.

FARRINGTON AVE., 6000 block. A 1995 Ford truck was stolen.

GROVEDALE CT., 6100 block. A 1993 Pontiac Grand Am was stolen.

STODDARD CT., 6000 block. A 1997 Ford Expedition was stolen.

MASON DISTRICT

ROBBERIES

BEAUREGARD AND EIGHTH STREETS, 1:10 a.m. March 26. Two men approached a 22-year-old female pedestrian, and one knocked her down and punched her while the other grabbed her purse. The pair then fled. The victim reportedly received minor abrasions and bruises.

LITTLE RIVER TPK., 6200 block, 6:35 p.m. March 21. A man ran up to a 36-year-old woman walking with her 4-year-old daughter, pushed the girl down, then took the woman's purse. The girl was treated at the scene for a bruise on her forehead.

LITTLE RIVER TURNPIKE AND GREEN SPRINGS LANE, 8:10 p.m. March 24. A man asked a 50-year-old male park employee for a cigarette as he was locking the gates of the park. When the employee said he didn't smoke, another man grabbed him around the neck and forced him to the ground. Both men took cash from the victim's pockets and fled.

GALLOWS RD., 2900 block, 7:20 p.m. March 20. Two armed masked men attempted to enter a business but were noticed on a security camera monitor by two employees. One employee called police while the second locked the front doors. The robbers fled.

FURMAN LANE, 2900 block. A 2000 Geo Prism was stolen.

REPUBLIC CT., 7500 block. A 1998 Plymouth Voyager was stolen.

RICHMOND HIGHWAY AND FORT HUNT ROAD, 1:30 p.m. March 25. Police checked the license plate of a car and discovered that it had been reported stolen from the District on March 20. When police tried to stop it, the vehicle's driver did a U-turn and sped away. The driver struck a police car, then drove into a curb, damaging the vehicle. A 21-year-old District man was charged with grand theft auto, driving without a license, possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, speeding to elude and reckless driving. Two 17-year-old District males were also arrested. One was charged with possession of marijuana and the other with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute.

ASSAULTS

AINSWORTH AVE., 8100 block, 6:45 a.m. March 23. A man broke into a residence and was confronted by a 71-year-old man with a shotgun. During a struggle between the men, the homeowner's 68-year-old wife retrieved the shotgun and shot the intruder in the lower body. The intruder was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital. The homeowners were not injured. A 19-year-old Springfield area man was charged with burglary with intent to comment assault and attempted murder.

LEE HWY., 9600 block, 1:44 a.m. March 23. A person punched a male in the face after a dispute over a bar tab.

LEE HWY., 9700 block, 7:30 p.m. March 24. Several people shouted at a male walking past a motel and threw beer cans at him. One of the people cut the male on the wrist, then the group fled.

WILLARD WAY, 10300 block, 11:43 p.m. March 21. Two people assaulted a male in a parking lot. A 20-year-old Reston man was charged with assault and battery.

ROBBERIES

MAIN ST., 10200 block, 6:54 p.m. March 25. A man attempted to rob a man and his wife at an ATM. When police arrived, one of the victims was keeping the door to the ATM area closed to prevent the man from leaving. After a brief struggle, a 57-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with attempted robbery.

OLD LEE HWY., 3200 block, 7:10 p.m. March 25. A man was observed placing merchandise in a store bag, then attempting to return it for cash. When a store manager confronted him, he grabbed the bag, ran to a vehicle and fled in it.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

LEE HWY., 10400 block, 2:47 p.m. March 25. Gas was stolen from a service station.

LEE HWY., 10600 block, March 4 to March 19. Plumbing supplies were stolen from a construction site at a high school.

LEE HWY., 11000 block, 4:30 to 5:10 p.m. March 21. A pair of pants, cash, keys, a pager and a watch were stolen from a locker at a sports club.

LEE HWY., 9600 block, 8 p.m. March 17. Temporary license plates were stolen from a desk at an auto dealership.

MAIN ST., 10000 block, 8:45 p.m. March 23. A male asked a clerk in a convenience store for a box of cigars. When the clerk handed a box to the male, he fled without paying.

MAIN ST., 9600 block, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. March 19. A purse, accidentally left in a shopping cart outside a store, was stolen.

MAIN ST., 9600 block, Aug. 1 to March 17. An employee allegedly stole video games from a store. A 20-year-old Oakton man was charged with embezzlement.

PLANTATION PKWY., 3300 block, March 23 to March 24. A vehicle was ransacked.

CHAIN BRIDGE RD., 3500 block, 9:15 p.m. March 23. A beige 1991 Honda Accord was stolen from a parking lot.

LEE HWY., 10200 block, March 4 to March 25. A black 2002 Lincoln LS was stolen from an auto dealership.

LEE HWY., 10300 block, 12:31 p.m. March 25. A 1990 Honda Civic, reported stolen from Fairfax County, was recovered in a parking lot.

VANDALISM

DRAPER DRIVE PARK, 3:25 a.m. March 24. Windows of a vehicle were broken.

FAIRFAX SQ., 9900 block, midnight March 22 to 9:30 a.m. March 23. A vehicle at an apartment complex was vandalized.

PARK HILL PL., 3400 block, March 23 to March 24. Two tires of two vehicles in front of residences were cut.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

EAST BROAD ST., 500 block, 10 p.m. March 24 to 6 a.m. March 25. A wooden political sign in front of a residence was stolen.

EAST FAIRFAX ST., 200 block, 7:30 p.m. March 18 to 7:50 a.m. March 19. A spare tire and two headlight covers were stolen from a vehicle.

WEST BROAD ST., 1000 block, March 16 to March 20. Coins were stolen from three vacuum machines at a car wash.

WEST COLUMBIA ST., 100 block, 6:30 p.m. March 14 to 7:30 p.m. March 17. Seven Motorola radios were stolen from a church.

VANDALISM

CHANEL TER., 100 block, 4:30 p.m. March 18 to 8:20 a.m. March 19. A vehicle's door lock was damaged.

NORTH WASHINGTON ST., 200 block, 3 to 11 p.m. March 19. A window of a vehicle was smashed.

HERNDON PKWY., 300 block, 10:51 a.m. March 19. A man exposed himself to three people.

ASSAULTS

AUTUMNHAZE CT., 1100 block, 11:48 a.m. March 17. A man grabbed and struck an acquaintance, then brandished a knife and threatened the acquaintance. A 30-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with assault and battery.

DULLES PARK CT., 600 block, 9:39 p.m. March 22. A male assaulted an acquaintance, then struck a wall, cutting his finger.

WHITWORTH CT., 1100 block, 10:40 p.m. March 17. Police were called about three acquaintances involved in a fight. All three allegedly had minor injuries.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

ELDEN ST,. 1200 block, 11:11 a.m. March 20. A male stole merchandise from a store.

FERNDALE AVE., 800 block, 9 a.m. March 17. Merchandise was stolen from vending machines. A 48-year-old Fairfax man was charged with grand larceny and petty theft.

FLORIDA AVE., 500 block, 7:19 a.m. March 22. A stereo was stolen from a vehicle entered by breaking a window.

VANDALISM

RENEAU WAY, 300 block, 6:29 p.m. March 13. A vehicle was scratched, and eggs were thrown on it.

WORLDGATE DR., 13000 block, 1:35 p.m. March 20. Graffiti was written on a bench.

Vienna

CEDAR LANE SE, 200 block, 12:02 a.m. March 26. Police were called to an apartment about a domestic disturbance. A 37-year-old Vienna man was charged with domestic assault.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

MAPLE AVE. E., 300 block, 11:30 p.m. March 20 to 2:30 p.m. March 21. Locks on a coin-operated vacuum machine and a car wash were broken. Nothing was reported missing.

MAPLE AVE. W., 500 block, 1:01 a.m. March 26. A 12-pack of beer was stolen from a convenience store.

ORCHARD ST. NW, 500 block, 5 p.m. March 19 to 6 p.m. March 20. A gas grill and a propane tank outside a residence were stolen.

VANDALISM

CHERRY ST. SE, 100 block, 10:45 p.m. March 21 to 4:40 p.m. March 22. Graffiti was written on a wall of a restroom in a community center.

EAST ST. NE, 100 block, 5:30 p.m. March 15 to 10 a.m. March 16. A vehicle was scratched.

HILLCREST DR. SW, 1000 block, 10 a.m. to noon March 24. A gutter downspout at a house was damaged, and a TV wire was pulled from an exterior wall.

HUNTER RD. SW, 2800 block, 8 p.m. March 22 to 11:30 a.m. March 23. Two unlocked vehicles at a residence were ransacked. Nothing was reported missing.
