Group Offers Class in Boating Safety
The Friends of the Anne Arundel Trails Inc. will present a Maryland Basic Boating Safety Course from 7 to 10 p.m. April 11 and 14 at the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company, 161 Ritchie Hwy., Severna Park.
The three-part course provides an overview of the rules and fundamentals of safe boating and will help students become familiar with required boating safety equipment.

Weeklong Camp Targets Children With Asthma
North Arundel Hospital and Ear, Nose, Throat, Asthma and Allergy and Audiology Care will co-sponsor this year's 15th annual Camp Airways for children 6 to 12 who suffer from asthma.
The weeklong day camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 4 through 8 at the Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park. Campers will participate in asthma and nutrition classes, arts and crafts classes, swimming and other outdoor activities.

Sign Language Classes Are Geared for Infants
The North County and Crofton branches of the Anne Arundel County public library system will offer infant sign languages classes throughout April.
The classes are designed to teach infants from 6 to 24 months how to use sign language to communicate with their caregivers. The 45-minute sessions will provide basic instruction in American Sign Language and will include tips on introducing and reinforcing this means of communication through fun learning activities.
Sessions will be held at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. April 15 at the North County branch, 1010 Eastway, Glen Burnie. The class will also be held at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. April 28, at the Crofton branch, 1681 Riedel Rd. in Crofton.

Arts Council Sponsors Grant Workshop
The Queen Anne's County Arts Council will host a workshop on completing an arts in education grant at 6 p.m. April 15 at the Queen Anne's County Arts Council building, 206 S. Commerce St., Centreville.
Grant applications will be available at the workshop for those who wish to apply. The deadline for submitting applications is May 19. For the workshop, the registration deadline is Wednesday.
The arts council will also host a summer dance camp June 13 through Aug. 8 for children 8 to 12. The camp will include weekly classes in jazz, tap, Irish step dancing, Native American dancing, ballet, baroque, Egyptian, classical Chinese, improvisation and African dance. Students will also take classes in nutrition, crafts and stage makeup. June 6 is the deadline for registration.
