Rabbit in Soiled Crate
Park Rd. NW, 1500 block, April 29. A Humane Society officer impounded a rabbit being kept in a dog crate. The floor of the crate was soiled with urine, and there was no food or water. The rabbit was held in the custody of the society pending a resolution of the case.
9 Dogs Confiscated
Ogden St. NW, 1500 block, April 30. Humane Society officers obtained a search warrant and removed nine mixed-breed dogs from a woman's house, which was in poor condition, had no running water and was soiled with dog feces. The dogs were held in the custody of the society pending a resolution of the case.
Pit Bull Left Chained on Porch
17th St. SE, 1900 block, April 28. A Humane Society officer impounded a pit bull found chained to a porch railing. The chain had become tangled around the railing, and the dog was lying in its urine. There was no food or water. Another chain and collar were on the porch. Witnesses reported that another dog had escaped and that no one had cared for the remaining dog in several days. The dog was held at the society shelter pending contact by an owner.
