The Maryland Higher Education Commission is accepting applications for its physical and occupational therapist and assistant's grant program.
Applicants must be Maryland residents enrolled or intending to enroll in a full-time, professional program for physical or occupational therapist or for physical therapy assistant or occupational therapy assistant. The programs must lead to a Maryland license. Grants may not be used for pre-professional programs.
The maximum annual award is $2,000, and grants may be used for tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies. Recipients must agree to work full time with handicapped children in a Maryland facility one year for each year they receive an award. Award Nominations Sought
The Maryland State Teachers Association is seeking nominations for its 27th annual School Bell awards. The awards recognize outstanding media coverage of public education in Maryland. Awards will be given for newspaper reporting, photography, radio and television reporting, magazine coverage, film, Internet reporting and billboards. Scholarships Are Offered
The Maryland Higher Education Commission is accepting applications for the Maryland Child Care Provider Scholarship. Applicants must be Maryland residents enrolled in full- or part-time undergraduate child development or early childhood education programs. The programs must be in-state and for those seeking degrees. Awards range from $500 to $2,000 per academic year. Scholarship recipients must agree to work as Maryland child care providers one year for every year they receive the award. The Maryland Higher Education Commission is accepting applications for the State Nursing Scholarship and Living Expenses Grant. The program is open to high school seniors and degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students who have been accepted into a full-time college or university nursing program. Applicants must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. Students can receive up to $4,500 in assistance. The deadline for applications is June 30.
