PEEPING-TOM INCIDENTS

BROOK OVERLOOK CT., 2400 block, 10:20 p.m. May 11. A man observed a man looking into an apartment window and masturbating. The man detained the intruder and shouted for help. A 39-year-old male resident in the apartment heard the noise and climbed out of the window to help hold the intruder until police arrived. A 19-year-old Herndon man was charged with peeping into an occupied dwelling and indecent exposure.

EDSALL RD., 6400 block, 1 a.m. May 10. Several people accosted a 16-year-old male pedestrian, and his hands were mutilated with a machete. The boy was treated a hospital. An 18-year-old Annandale area man was charged with malicious wounding and participation in gang activity.

ASSAULTS

MAPLE PL., 7200 block, 4:15 p.m. May 9. A man with a metal pipe broke a front glass door of a business where a female acquaintance was working. He entered the business, assaulted the female, poured a flammable liquid on the floor and set it on fire. The female and several customers escaped, reportedly uninjured by fire. The man fled on foot. Warrants were issued charging a 45-year-old man with burglary, malicious burning and other offenses.

ROBBERIES

ARLINGTON BLVD., 6100 block, 6:50 p.m. May 9. A group of people attacked a 24-year-old man leaving a restaurant and robbed him of cash at knifepoint. A 24-year-old Falls Church area man was charged with assault and battery.

JANNA LEE AVE., 7900 block, 7 p.m. April 29. A 16-year-old girl saw a 21-year-old male acquaintance in a parking lot and he asked her to get into his vehicle. She got into the vehicle, and he reportedly sexually assaulted her. The girl then escaped and was treated at a hospital. On May 7, a 21-year-old Engleside area man was charged with rape and abduction.

SEXUAL ASSAULTS

LOCUST ST., 900 block, 1:20 p.m. May 5. Two male youths cornered a 13-year-old female acquaintance in a hallway at a school, then sexually assaulted her and robbed her of jewelry. Two boys, ages 14 and 15, were charged with sexual assault and robbery.

ROBBERIES

CENTREVILLE RD., 2200 block, 11 p.m. May 11. Two women asked a 42-year-old man for directions in the hallway of a hotel. One woman then sprayed him with tear gas while the other tried to take items from his pocket. The man ran back to his hotel room and locked the door. No injuries were reported.

ALBOT RD., 2400 block. A stereo was stolen from a vehicle.

COOPERATIVE WAY, 2200 block. A license plate was stolen from a vehicle.

CORNELIA RD., 2500 block. A TV was stolen from a vehicle.

MULTIPLEX DR., 6200 block, 9:30 p.m. April 30. Four male youths attacked a male acquaintance, striking him in the head and knocking him down. They stopped when passersby intervened. Four boys, ages 14, 15, 17, were charged with assault by mob.

ALICE CT., 10100 block, 11:20 p.m. May 8. A female juvenile punched a 15-year-old female in the face at a party. The injured girl was treated at a hospital and released. The incident was under investigation.

BEVAN DR., 3700 block, 10:20 to 11:45 a.m. May 8. A purse was stolen from a vehicle in a middle school parking lot. The vehicle was entered by breaking a window.

BRADWATER ST., 3900 block, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 11. A white plastic planter in front of a residence was stolen.

CHAIN BRIDGE RD., 3500 block, 4:27 p.m. May 6. Gas was stolen from a service station.

CHAIN BRIDGE RD., 4000 block, April 1 to April 15. A music amplifier was stolen from a restaurant.

CHANCERY PARK DR., 4300 block, 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 8. A U.S. flag and a flagpole in front of a residence were stolen.

LEE HWY., 11200 block, 12:52 a.m. May 12. Thirty cartons of cigarettes were stolen from the rear of a delivery truck while the driver was unloading items at a store.

MAIN ST., 9600 block, 6:32 p.m. May 10. A male concealing merchandise in his shirt and pants in a grocery store dropped the property when confronted by an employee. A 22-year-old Warrenton man was charged with grand theft.

MAIN ST., 9900 block, 6:35 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. May 5. Cash was stolen from a residence.

OLD LEE HWY., 3200 block, 11:47 a.m. May 7. A male stole property from a hardware store.

OLD LEE HWY., 3200 block, 12:47 p.m. May 10. An employee stopped a male as he attempted to leave a hardware store with a merchandise item. The male paid for the item and left. A short time later the man returned without any items and again tried to leave with the same kind of merchandise. When employees stopped him, he told them it was the one he had just purchased. He dropped the item and fled when employees called police.

ORCHARD ST., 10500 block, May 7 to May 11. A light blue Diamondback bicycle was stolen from the carport of a residence.

SAGER AVENUE AND LOCUST STREET, 6 to 6:30 p.m. May 3. A purse was stolen from a park.

LEE HWY., 10400 block, April 9 to April 30. A white 2004 Dodge Sprinter van was stolen from an auto dealership.

SPRING ST., 3100 block, 5:05 to 6:58 p.m. May 4. A black 2002 BMW was stolen from an auto body shop.

VANDALISM

BYRD DR., 10900 block, 6:15 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. May 10. The back yard of a residence was ransacked.

JERMANTOWN RD., 3700 block, May 1 to May 2. A lock on a vehicle at an apartment complex was damaged.

JOYCE DR., 10700 block, 2:33 a.m. May 6. A U.S. flag made out of plywood and two lights used to illuminate the flag at a residence were damaged.

LEE HWY., 9600 block, May 5 to May 6. Rocks were thrown through two windows of a business.

MAIN ST., 10500 block, April 30 to May 1. Several lampposts in a church parking lot were spray-painted.

BROAD ST. W., 900 block, 6:55 p.m. April 30. A female threw a bowl of soup on a female employee in a restaurant and hit her on the head with a plate.

WASHINGTON ST. S., 500 block, 9:34 a.m. May 1. A man allegedly threatened an employee and demanded his job back after being fired. A 52-year-old Bethesda, Md., man was charged with assault, destruction of property and public drunkenness.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

BROAD ST. W., 1200 block, 1:53 p.m. April 30. Five platinum rings were stolen from a jewelry store.

BROAD ST. W., 1200 block, 2:15 to 3:37 p.m. May 10. A female asked a female in a grocery store for directions. She returned a short time later and asked the female more questions. When the first female left, the other discovered that her wallet was missing from her purse.

BROAD ST. W., 1200 block, 4:10 to 4:37 p.m. May 4. A female distracted a female customer in a grocery store, and when the customer returned to her shopping cart, she found her purse open, and it was missing a change purse.

BROAD ST. W., 1200 block, 6:20 p.m. May 6. A man was stopped at a grocery store for taking merchandise. A 22-year-old Warrenton man was charged with theft.

BROAD ST. W., 800 block, noon April 15 to 11:13 a.m. May 3. Quarters were stolen from lockboxes on several clothes dryers in a building.

LITTLE FALLS ST., 200 block, 2:45 to 3:05 p.m. April 27. An unlocked boy's BMX bicycle was stolen from a bike rack in front of a community center.

MARSHALL ST. W., 100 block, 8 p.m. May 4 to 7:30 a.m. May 5. An unlocked bicycle outside a residence was stolen.

PARK AVE., 900 block, 10 a.m. March 26 to 10:37 a.m. May 4. Checks were stolen from a church.

VIRGINIA AVE. S., 100 block, 2 p.m. May 1 to noon May 2. Three bicycles were stolen from the back yard of a residence.

WASHINGTON ST. S., 400 block, 8 to 8:47 a.m. May 7. A wallet, accidentally left at a phone booth, was stolen. One of the credit cards in the wallet was used to make a purchase at a local store.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

ROOSEVELT BLVD., 400 block, 9 a.m. April 16 to 3:12 p.m. April 29. A 2004 Ford FS pickup truck was stolen from a parking lot of an auto dealership.

VANDALISM

GIBSON ST., 200 block, 12:30 a.m. to 3:16 p.m. April 29. A rear tire of a vehicle was slashed.

VIRGINIA AVE. S., 300 block, 6 p.m. April 28 to 11:39 a.m. April 29. Two tires of two vehicles were slashed.

WASHINGTON ST. S., 400 block, 1:29 a.m. May 7. A front glass door of a restaurant was smashed. Nothing was reported missing.

WEST ST. N., 200 block, 8 p.m. April 27 to 7:33 a.m. April 28. A pane of glass in a door was broken.

ASSAULTS

ELDEN ST., 100 block, 9:56 a.m. May 6. Police were called about a female striking a child several times in a parking lot. A bystander tried to stop the woman from leaving, and she struck the person with her vehicle. The bystander reportedly received minor injuries. A 38-year-old Reston woman was charged with attempted malicious wounding and child abuse.

FLORIDA AVE., 500 block, 2:02 a.m. May 8. Two males pushed a female against a wall and struck her in the abdomen, then fled.

WORCHESTER ST., 600 block, 10:59 p.m. May 3. A man struck an acquaintance in the face. The acquaintance reportedly received minor injuries. A 33-year-old Herndon man was charged with assault.

ROBBERIES

KINGS CT., 1000 block, 10:53 p.m. May 5. Two males forcibly entered a residence and robbed residents of cash. One of the victims reportedly received minor injuries.

W&OD TRAIL AND CENTER STREET, 10:52 p.m., May 7. A male walking along an equestrian trail was shot during a robbery attempt after he was approached by two people. He reportedly received non-life threatening injuries to the arm and abdomen.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

ELDEN ST., 200 block, 2:18 p.m. May 3. A checkbook was stolen from a backpack in an office.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 3:13 p.m. May 5. A 25-year-old North Carolina woman was stopped at a business and charged with shoplifting.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 7:18 p.m. May 4. Security personnel stopped a man attempting to take two shirts in a store. After a struggle, the shirts were recovered, and the man fled.

FLORIDA AVE., 500 block, 5:44 p.m. May 4. A person took cash from a female acquaintance's checking account.

HERNDON PKWY., 1100 block, 8:35 a.m. May 9. Cash and a safe were stolen from a business entered by forcing a door.

VANDALISM

ALTON SQ., 12900 block, 7:30 a.m. May 7. A window of a foyer was broken.

CHERRY CT., 300 block, 12:30 a.m. May 9. Two tires of a vehicle were punctured.

SPRING ST., 200 block, 8:55 a.m. May 5. A female scratched a door of a parked vehicle after she had a traffic altercation with the driver of the vehicle.

CENTER ST., 700 block, 6:37 p.m. May 6. A window of a construction vehicle was broken.

CYPRESS TREE PL., 1100 block, 6:37 a.m. May 7. Two tires of a vehicle were punctured.

THELMA CIR. SW, 600 block, 9:55 a.m. May 11. Police were called about a domestic dispute at a residence. Two 30-year-old women were charged with domestic assault.

MAPLE AVE. E., 300 block, 5:17 p.m. May 6. Employees in a grocery store stopped a man for taking merchandise. A 19-year-old Fairfax man was charged with grand theft.

MAPLE AVE. E., 500 block, 1:40 p.m. May 5. Police were called to a bank about a check fraud case. A 43-year-old Lanham, Md., man was charged with check forgery and identity theft.

MAPLE AVE. W., 500 block, 7 p.m. May 5 to 9 a.m. May 6. An unsuccessful attempt was made to force a door open at a hair salon.

WEST ST. NW, 300 block, noon April 9 to 2:20 p.m. May 9. A bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage at a residence.

VANDALISM

CARTERS GLEN CT. SW, 600 block, 11 p.m. May 7 to 8 a.m. May 8. A mailbox and several decorative rocks at a residence were spray-painted.
