VANDALISM

TELEGRAPH RD., 7600 block, 8 p.m. May 13. Two swastikas were painted on a tree at a school.

INDECENT EXPOSURE

SOUTH JEFFERSON STREET AND COLUMBIA PIKE, 6:20 p.m. May 14. A man exposed himself to a 54-year-old female motorist and her two juvenile passengers while they were stopped at a traffic light. A Silver Spring man was located and charged with exposure.

ROBBERIES

BRAD ST., 7300 block, 2 p.m. May 14. Three men wearing black bandannas over their faces and carrying baseball bats knocked on a side door of a residence, then forced their way inside when the door was opened. They tied two occupants, ransacked the house and took cash and jewelry.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

BEAUREGARD ST., 4800 block. Wine was stolen from a business.

CARLIN SPRINGS RD., 3400 block. Beer was stolen from a business.

COLUMBIA PIKE, 6300 block. A license plate was stolen from a vehicle.

COLUMBIA PIKE, 7000 block. A purse was stolen from a vehicle.

LEESBURG PIKE, 5700 block. A laptop computer and a video camera were stolen from a business.

SPRING LANE, 3400 block. A radio was stolen from a vehicle.

LAUREL GLADE, 12200 block, 1 a.m. May 15. Two teenagers, a male and a female, stopped a 34-year-old man walking on a path behind an apartment complex. The female took a knife out of her skirt and told the man to empty his pockets, then searched him and took

cash.

CENTREVILLE RD., 2400 block. Cash was stolen from a business.

SUNRISE VALLEY DR., 11800 block. Beer was stolen from a business.

THOMAS JEFFERSON DR., 2400 block. A camera and a computer were stolen from a school.

ASSAULTS

SPINDLE CT., 5700 block, 11:50 a.m. May 13. A male learning archery under the guidance of a teacher at a school, turned away from his target and allegedly shot the arrow at a moving school security vehicle, damaging a door. An 18-year-old male was charged with shooting a missile at an occupied vehicle.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

BELLE PLAINS DR., 5200 block. A bicycle was stolen from a residence.

LEE JACKSON MEMORIAL HWY., 14500 block. Beer was stolen from a business.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

LEIGHFIELD VALLEY DR., 4700 block. A 1995 Acura Integra was stolen.

West Springfield District

ROBBERIES

OLD KEENE MILL RD., 8400 block, 3 p.m. May 17. Two men with handguns demanded cash from two tellers in a bank. Both tellers and a customer gave them cash. The robbers fled in a white vehicle. No injuries were reported.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

BURKE COMMONS RD., 6000 block. Gas was stolen from a service station.

OLD KEENE MILL RD., 9500 block. A wallet was stolen from a business.

ROLLING RD., 6100 block. A radio was stolen from a vehicle.

ASSAULTS

MAIN ST., 9600 block, 11:20 p.m. May 17. A stranger punched a male in a fitness center and fled. The victim reportedly refused medical treatment.

OLD LEE HWY., 3700 block, 8:05 p.m. May 15. A female followed another female from a convenience store and grabbed her by the neck, then fled after a struggle. Police found a female suspect nearby. A 27-year-old woman of no fixed address was charged with assault. The other female was treated at a hospital.

ROBBERIES

JERMANTOWN ROAD AND MAIN STREET, 10:48 a.m. May 15. A male driver got out of a vehicle and reached into the vehicle of a female acquaintance at a traffic light and snatched her purse.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

DEMOCRACY LANE, 10300 block, May 14 to May 17. A tire and a hubcap were stolen from a vehicle behind a business.

EMBASSY LANE, 3600 block, May 14. A red Mega 12-speed bicycle was stolen from a carport of a residence.

GAINSBOROUGH CT., 11100 block, noon May 12. A stereo equalizer in front of an apartment building was stolen while its owner was moving into an apartment.

LEE HWY., 9500 block, May 11 to May 12. A car stereo was stolen from a vehicle at a restaurant.

LEE HWY., 10300 block, May 15 to May 16. Cash was stolen from a cash register in a store.

LEE HWY., 10400 block, 11:15 a.m. May 15. Gas was stolen from a service station.

LEE HWY., 10700 block, 5:38 p.m. May 12. A female placed several items in a shopping cart in a store, then took them to a counter and returned them for cash.

LEE HWY., 11000 block, 6:30 to 6:50 p.m. May 10. Three MP3 players were stolen from a store.

LEE HWY., 11200 block, 11:25 p.m. May 15. Several packs of beer were stolen from a convenience store.

LEE HWY., 11200 block, 3 to 8 p.m. May 18. An employee's purse was stolen from a back room at a convenience store.

MAIN ST., 9600 block, 10:30 a.m. May 12. A counterfeit $20 bill was used at a fast-food restaurant.

MAIN ST., 9900 block, May 13 to May 14. A license plate was stolen from a vehicle.

MAIN ST., 10500 block, 1 to 4:30 p.m. May 12. A propane tank and a forklift ignition key were stolen.

MAIN ST., 10500 block, 7 to 9 p.m. May 17. A cell phone was stolen from an apartment entered through a window.

MAIN ST., 10500 block, May 13 to May 14. A metal box containing cash and credit cards was stolen from a business.

NORTH STREET AND TRURO LANE, May 16. A man involved in a car accident was observed trying to leave the area quickly. Police stopped him, and an investigation revealed that the car he had been driving had been stolen from the Annandale area. A 21-year-old Falls Church man was charged with grand theft, possession of burglary tools, driving while intoxicated, identity fraud and hit and run.

UNIVERSITY DR., 4000 block, April 13 to May 13. A computer was stolen from an office.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

CHAIN BRIDGE RD., 4100 block, 10:21 a.m. May 13. A maroon 2004 Ford Expedition, reported stolen in Fairfax City, was recovered in a parking lot of an office building.

LAYTON HALL DR., 10300 block, 10 to 11:50 p.m. May 16. A red Tomos Moped was stolen from a parking lot in front of an apartment building. It was recovered in a nearby park.

VANDALISM

BRADWATER ST., 3800 block, 3:40 a.m. May 15. The driver's side window of a vehicle was broken.

CEDAR AND KEITH AVENUES, May 15. Graffiti was spray-painted on a street at an intersection.

MAIN ST., 9600 block, 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. May 12. A vehicle was scratched.

ANNANDALE RD. W., 500 block, 7 to 9:29 p.m. May 13. A purse was stolen from a vehicle.

BROAD ST. W., 1100 block, 10:36 a.m. May 11. A female juvenile was stopped for taking makeup from a pharmacy. A 16-year-old Falls Church girl was charged with shoplifting.

BROAD ST. W., 1200 block, 4:30 p.m. May 15. A credit card was stolen from a purse in a shopping cart in a grocery store. A woman engaged the victim in conversation and placed herself between the victim and her cart while a male passed by. The woman was later notified by her credit card company that the card had been used to make a purchase.

BROAD ST. W., 1200 block, 5:38 p.m. May 11. A man stole food from a grocery store. A 60-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with shoplifting.

BROAD ST. W., 1200 block, 6:24 p.m. May 14. Two men took several razor refills from a grocery store. A 44-year-old Fairfax area man and a 21-year-old Springfield man were charged with shoplifting.

BROAD ST. W., 1200 block, 7:45 p.m. May 11. A man took razor refills from a grocery store. A 27-year-old Springfield man was charged with shoplifting.

CHERRY ST. S., 200 block, 2 a.m. to 2:55 p.m. May 16. Two mopeds were stolen from a locked shed.

JAMES ST., 300 block, noon to 1:16 p.m. May 14. A temporary license plate was stolen from a vehicle.

JEFFERSON ST. E., 400 block, 3 p.m. May 10 to 9:08 a.m. May 11. A purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in a driveway of a residence.

WASHINGTON ST. S., 300 block, 10 a.m. May 7 to 11:01 a.m. May 11. Cash, credit cards and a diamond bracelet were stolen from several purses.

MOTOR VEHICLE THEFTS

MAPLE AVE. S., 400 block, May 7 to May 13. A 1990 GMC van was stolen.

VANDALISM

JAMES CT., 400 block, 11 p.m. May 11 to 11:29 a.m. May 14. Ten lawn chairs, a table, a trash can and a flower pot were thrown into a swimming pool at a condominium complex.

WASHINGTON ST. S., 400 block, 2 a.m. May 15. Two tires of a boat trailer in a parking lot were flattened.

Herndon

HOMICIDES

PARK AVE., 1000 block, 9:41 p.m. May 16. A male juvenile male and a female juvenile were shot while walking in front of a group of

townhouses. Jose Sandoval, a 17-year-old Herndon male, was pronounced dead at

Reston Hospital. A 16-year-old female was taken to a hospital. The incident was under investigation.

ASSAULTS

BIRCH CT., 700 block, 7:37 p.m. May 15. A man arguing with a person in the process of towing his vehicle went into his house and returned with a machete. A 41-year-old Herndon man was charged with assault.

CORDELL WAY, 700 block, 11:04 a.m. May 11. A female reported that an acquaintance pounded on her door and threatened to assault her after an argument.

MAGNOLIA LANE, 1200 block, 1 a.m. May 16. A man struck an acquaintance. A 37-year-old Herndon man was charged with assault.

PATRICK LANE, 400 block, 5:56 p.m. May 10. A person struck an acquaintance. No injuries were reported.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

CORDELL WAY, 700 block, 7:39 a.m. May 11. A man took car keys from a residence after

entering through a window, then took a

vehicle. A 33-year-old Herndon man was charged with breaking and entering and grand theft.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 11:15 a.m. May 15. A woman stole items. A 31-year-old Reston woman was charged with petty theft.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 2:55 p.m. May 11. Three people were stopped for shoplifting at a business. An 18-year-old Sterling man was charged with shoplifting. A 17-year-old Sterling girl and a 17-year-old Herndon girl were released to their parents.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 3:14 p.m. May 14. A male juvenile was stopped for shoplifting at a business. A 17-year-old Herndon male was released to his parents.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 4:02 p.m. May 16. A man stole items. A 26-year-old Annandale man was charged with petty theft.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 5:45 p.m. May 11. A man was found with a fraudulent document. A 19-year-old Herndon man was charged with petty theft and identification fraud.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 6:07 p.m. May 12. A man was stopped for shoplifting at a business. A 26-year-old Reston man was charged with shoplifting.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 7:14 p.m. May 14. A man was stopped for shoplifting at a business. A 28-year-old Herndon man was charged with shoplifting.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 7:21 p.m. May 10. A male was stopped for shoplifting at a business. A 25-year-old Sterling man was charged with shoplifting.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 9:21 p.m. May 10. Two males attempted to take a TV from a store.

HOLLY CT., 300 block, 6 a.m. May 12. A computer bag was stolen from a vehicle entered by breaking a window.

TAMARACK WAY, 700 block, 7:15 a.m. May 15. A wheel was stolen from a vehicle.

ELDEN ST., 200 block, 11:30 a.m. May 11. Four tires of a vehicle were cut, and the hood, the front bumper and a passenger door were damaged.

ELDEN ST., 400 block, 11:13 a.m. May 11. A tire valve stem of a parked vehicle was cut.

ELDEN ST., 600 block, 10:15 p.m. May 14. Two front tires of a vehicle were cut.

FLORIDA AVE., 500 block, 12:25 p.m. May 10. A window screen was damaged.

JACKSON AND VAN BUREN STREETS, 9:44 a.m. May 10. Graffiti was spray-painted on a sign.

CHURCH AND PARK STREETS NE, 3:05 p.m. May 17. Police were called about a man exposing himself at an intersection. A 53-year-old Vienna man was charged with indecent exposure.

ASSAULTS

MAPLE AVENUE WEST AND NUTLEY STREET, 3 p.m. May 14. A rock was thrown through a rear window of a car while the driver was waiting to make a turn.

THEFTS/BREAK-INS

HILLCREST DR. SW, 600 block, 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. May 13. A bicycle was stolen from a residence.

MAPLE AVE. E., 100 block, 10 a.m. May 12 to 4 p.m. May 15. Audio book CDs were stolen from their cases at a library.

MAPLE AVE. E., 100 block, noon to 12:50 p.m. May 18. A purse was stolen from a

desk.

MAPLE AVE. E., 300 block, 8:30 p.m. May 11 to 8:30 a.m. May 12. The front door of a business was damaged in an unsuccessful attempt to enter.

PATRICK ST. SE, 100 block, 10:30 p.m. May 15 to 11:15 a.m. May 16. A CD player and CDs were stolen from a car at an apartment building. The vehicle was entered by breaking a window.
