Sick Raccoon Near Swing Set
Chain Bridge Rd., 3600 block, May 21. A woman called about a paralyzed raccoon lying on the ground near her children's swing set. The raccoon was euthanized at the city shelter. Lab results indicated it did not have rabies.
Ducks Rescued Near Highway
Campbell Dr., 3100 block, May 24. Animal control was called about a mother duck and her ducklings wandering behind a business near a highway. When an officer arrived, the mother duck had disappeared. The ducklings were taken to a wildlife rehabilitator, where they will be raised before being released to the wild.
Black Snake Captured, Released
Sager Ave., 10300 block, May 25. Animal control was called about a four-foot black rat snake near a condominium complex. It was captured and released in a wooded area.
