The following organizations need volunteer help for a day, a week or on a regular basis.

Fairfax Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) needs volunteers to help abused and neglected children in the Fairfax County court system. Bilingual volunteers are especially needed. Thirty hours of training will be provided starting in July. Two optional information sessions for prospective volunteers will be held at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. next Thursday. The Fairfax County Park Authority needs volunteer teacher's aides for their adapted aquatics program. A training session is scheduled for 1-6 p.m. June 19 at the Providence RECenter, 7525 Marc Dr., Falls Church. Volunteers 16 or older will learn the basic skills needed to assist individuals with disabilities through hands-on pool work, a video and discussion. Northern Virginia Family Service's Clock Tower Thrift Shops need help taking inventory June 28-July 1. There are four shops, in Bailey's Crossroads, Falls Church, Sterling and Centreville. Help is also needed throughout the year with sorting, pricing and tagging donated clothing and household items. Must be 13 or older. Small groups are welcome. Celebrate Fairfax! needs volunteers for the county fair June 11-13. Volunteers are needed to provide exhibitor relations and information to festival patrons, help with programs in SciTech and ExxonMobil Children's Avenue and to take tickets and monitor admission gates. Must be 14 or older. The festival features music, children's activities, a crafts market, a science and technology center, a carnival, county and business expos, food and more. The SPCA of Northern Virginia needs foster homes for dogs and cats. The SPCA does not have a shelter and depends on foster homes for animals that have been rescued from abuse, neglect and abandonment. For more information, call 703-799-9390 or visit www.spcanova.org.
