Summer Programs at UM

High school juniors and seniors and college freshmen and sophomores have until Monday to apply for the University of Maryland's Arts! at Maryland program, to be held from June 20 to July 10.

Participants will be able to take college-level musical theater, dance, poetry, fiction writing, printmaking, drawing and jazz courses. The program will end with a performance and exhibition.

High school juniors and seniors have until June 21 to apply for the university's Young Scholars Program. The three-week summer program will be held July 11-30. Courses will be provided in astronomy, biology, classics, technology, engineering, satellite imagery, international politics, kinesiology and math game theory. Students will be able to participate in evening seminars and field trips to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Institutes of Standards and Technology.

Participants can use the college's dorms, dining halls, computer labs and libraries during the programs and may earn up to three college credits. For more information or for an application, call 301-314-3572.
