Ten District outdoor swimming pools have opened for public use during the past two weekends, and the rest are expected to open for weekend swimming by June 19, according to the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation.
The Anacostia, Georgetown and Francis swimming pools opened May 29. Anacostia is at 1800 Anacostia Dr. SE; Georgetown is at 3400 Volta Pl. NW; and Francis is at 2500 N St. NW. Seven more opened June 5: Banneker, 2500 Georgia Ave. NW; East Potomac, Ohio Drive SW; Kenilworth-Parkside, 4300 Anacostia Ave. NE; Langdon Park, Mills Avenue and Hamlin Street NE; Oxon Run, Fourth Street and Mississippi Avenue SE; Randall, South Capitol and I streets SW; and Upshur, 14th Street and Arkansas Avenue NW.
Weekday swimming will begin June 23. Weekday hours are from 1 to 8 p.m., with weekend hours set for noon to 6 p.m. For information, call the Aquatic Office at 202-282-0720.
Music Sign-Ups Start
A District nonprofit organization providing instrumental music instruction and performance opportunities to students ages 5 to 18 is enrolling students for its summer session, which begins later this month.
The D.C. Youth Orchestra Program's summer session, held at Coolidge High School, runs from June 28 through Aug. 6, offering courses for beginner and advanced musicians. Coolidge High School is at Fifth and Sheridan streets NW.

Museum Seeks Docents
A District museum showcasing 19th- and 20th-century paintings and sculptures is in need of volunteers to serve as docents leading adult and school group tours.
The Kreeger Museum will provide volunteer docents with training, which includes familiarizing them with the museum's collection and with tour techniques, such as working with children. Potential volunteers must be interviewed before being selected as docents.
The Kreeger Museum, at 2401 Foxhall Rd. NW, features works of art by renowned artists, such as Monet and Picasso, as well as by local artists.

Housing Seminars Set
The Department of Housing and Community Development and other related organizations have planned a series of exhibitions and seminars to encourage homeownership in the District.
The department is holding two D.C. government employee home buying seminars, today and June 15, both from noon to 2 p.m. at 801 North Capitol St. NE; the department's Sidewalk housing and home buying fair is June 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 801 North Capitol St. NE; and the Fannie Mae home buying fair seminar is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 19 at the Reeves Center, 14th and U streets NW.
